Engineering Manager – Sustaining

Position: Sustaining Engineering Manager

Location: Lebanon, TN

Primary Function
As an Engineering Manager - Sustaining, you will provide expert reliability guidance for specific projects or products. From start to finish, you will oversee all aspects of the reliability program, ensuring timely and budget-friendly completion.
Utilizing advanced engineering principles within your specialized field, you will make significant contributions.
Responsibilities
  • Supervise and manage all reliability-related activities.
  • Onboard new products and provide ongoing support for existing products, including water heaters, tankless water heaters, water filtration systems, etc.
  • Coordinate the development of reliability test plans for residential engineering projects.
  • Perform or oversee FMEA activities for residential engineering projects.
  • Analyze warranty data and provide insights to engineering project teams.
  • Collaborate with various departments to ensure seamless engineering support for field issues.
  • Set objectives for yourself and your team, and ensure their attainment.
  • Manage projects effectively, offering guidance and mentorship when necessary.
  • Conduct performance reviews, deliver timely feedback and coaching, and foster team growth.
  • Direct the use of CAE tools, such as Solidworks, MATLAB, LabView, Minitab, EES, CFD, FEA, and interpret results.
  • Develop and implement engineering standards and procedures, and provide expert advice within the engineering field.
  • Effectively communicate technical information to internal business units.
  • Possess a thorough understanding of the company's processes and customers, actively participate in functional best practices, and be recognized as an expert within operations.
  • Identify valuable projects for the company and define their technical requirements.
  • Establish objectives for timing, resources, and funding required for projects.
  • Oversee budget and timeline to ensure project goals are met.
  • Conduct regular status meetings and keep the team updated on changes or progress in project direction.
  • Perform any other assigned duties.
Role Specific Responsibilities
Qualifications
  • Hold a BS, MS, or PhD in engineering or a related field, with a minimum of 7 years of experience.
  • Have at least 10 years of related work experience as a product engineering manager.
  • Possess 4 or more years of supervisory or leadership experience.
  • Willingness to travel as required.

  • Demonstrate excellent analytical skills for cost review and budget report preparation.
  • Show proficiency in general problem-solving abilities.
  • Maintain a strong reputation for expertise and achievement, with significant scientific and technical prowess.
