Engineering Program Manager - Guidance and Control systems / HYBRID Remote
Located in Pittsburgh, PA
Salary range: $165-185K + Sign On Bonus + Full Benefits + Paid Relocation

Requirements

Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in Electrical Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering or Mathematics field with a Bachelor’s degree, or minimum of 6 years of relevant experience with a Master's degree. Must possess a background in system engineering and have leadership experience including cost, scheduling, and technical management.

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Preferred Department of Defense Secret security clearance at the time of hire. Candidates selected will undergo a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for accessing classified information. U.S. citizenship is required due to the nature of work performed within our facilities.

Join our team as an Engineering Program Manager and lead a program while managing a team of engineers responsible for the successful delivery of advanced Guidance and Control systems for the US Military. This role involves advancing the technical vision, meeting customer commitments, and fostering innovation. We are looking for candidates who have demonstrated strong leadership abilities, a willingness to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies, an ability to maximize the potential of any new technology, and critical thinking skills to address the needs of the military. Successful candidates must have excellent communication skills, a passion for technical progress and improvement, intellectual curiosity, and a strong motivation to lead and develop a cross-functional team.

Technical Objectives:

  • Show technical excellence in engineering or related technology areas. You will be seen as a technical lead with extensive experience in various development technologies.
  • Lead as a strong technical contributor to major development and production systems, demonstrating proficiency in applying and executing advanced technology principles, theories, and concepts. You are effective in problem-solving complex issues.
  • Oversee the technical performance (including cost, scope, and schedule) of all engineering efforts in the program. Ensure project requirements are integrated, tested, and verified, resulting in high-quality deliverables that meet or exceed all technical and schedule requirements.
  • Lead and manage the resolution of technical issues, communicate the resolution, and ensure implementation.
  • Develop and maintain engineering plans, risks, and opportunities. Follow change management processes and ensure adherence to program-specific standards and practices.

Management Objectives:

  • Demonstrate leadership, team building, and motivational skills.
  • Communicate effectively and have experience leading high-performing teams. Skilled in interacting and presenting to senior members of the company and customer communities.
  • Collaborate closely with Senior Engineering Leadership, Chief Engineers, and Program Managers to plan, authorize, and monitor engineering work, providing strong leadership to ensure all events occur as planned.
  • Work with the functional manager to staff the project team with the appropriate engineering skills and capabilities.
  • Conduct monthly engineering status reviews and provide materials for monthly program reviews. Implement effective corrective actions when necessary.
  • Motivate the engineering team and provide a clear understanding of project goals. Offer performance feedback and management for the project team. Take immediate and decisive action (both positive and corrective) in addressing technical and performance issues.
  • Manage engineering resources such as staff assignments and capital equipment. Maintain organizational interfaces and oversee engineering scope.
  • Provide input to the engineering leadership for potential areas of Research and Development.

Ideal Candidate

    • Currently holds or can obtain a DOD Secret Security Clearance
    • Experience with current and next-generation guidance and control systems for the Department of Defense
    • Proficient in target detection, acquisition, and prosecution (i.e., standard detect to engage)
    • Familiarity with acoustic sensors, signal processing, guidance, cyber secure, and high-reliability systems.
