Job Responsibilities

The Executive Director (RN) overseeing Hospice services manages all facets of patient care, supervises professional staff and allied health personnel, ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, maintains financial performance, and implements quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives for the agency. The Executive Director or their designated substitute must be available on-site during business hours and as needed outside of regular hours.

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, laws, policies, and procedures concerning hospice and Medicare/Medicaid matters on a daily basis.
  • Be present on-site during business hours or reachable by phone while away handling agency affairs; be available after hours as required.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations and drive the Care Management Process. The Executive Director or an assigned RN, such as a Patient Care Manager, will receive daily patient reports from staff. This process also entails reviewing patient care documentation, referral information, recertification procedures, discharge records, incident reports, etc., on a daily basis.
  • Analyze monthly financial results related to all aspects of the operation to ensure the delivery of quality patient care in the most cost-effective manner.
  • Participate in QAPI planning, processes, reporting, and improvement action plans as needed. This includes conducting chart audits, monitoring patient satisfaction, reviewing financials, managing contracts, addressing patient/family complaints, etc., and following up appropriately.
Education and Experience

Requirements for licensure:

  • Must possess a valid medical license, registered nursing license, social work license, or hold a Bachelor's degree with a minimum of three (3) years of proven success in their respective field of study and at least one (1) year of full-time experience in a hospice, home health, or other healthcare delivery system setting.
  • Experience in home health and management is required.
  • Current CPR certification is mandatory for Executive Directors who may engage with patients in the field.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license, vehicle insurance, and have access to a reliable vehicle or public transportation.
