Field Service Technician/Engineer

We are currently hiring for a skilled and experienced Field Service Technician/Engineer in Alpharetta, GA or Sugar Land, TX. This role involves working on-site, managing on-site operations, and ensuring that all site activities are carried out safely and in accordance with approved designs and plans. The ideal candidate will be responsible for problem-solving, improving efficiency, minimizing risk, driving business growth, and maintaining strong client relationships. In addition, this role requires a broad knowledge of electrical and power equipment, specifications, designs, industry best practices, and code compliance to provide technical support and supervision of field-based activities.



· Bachelor's degree in Engineering with at least 3 years of applicable work experience, or a combination of education and relevant work experience

· Excellent communication, documentation, and customer service skills

· Proficiency in electrical and power systems and equipment, including the ability to read and understand electrical designs and schematics, assess installed systems against approved electrical designs, and troubleshoot issues

· Solid understanding of panel and field wiring diagrams and schematics

· Strong multitasking, attention to detail, and analytical/critical thinking abilities

· Ability to work well under pressure and complete tasks within deadlines

· Familiarity with National Electric Code (NFPA 70), NFPA 70E, and other electrical standards


· Proficiency in using AutoCAD for the development or modification of electrical and instrumentation drawings, including site plot plan layouts, single line diagrams, panel layout diagrams and schematics, conduit and cable schedules, and miscellaneous electrical details and schematics

· Experience with programming PLCs (preferably Allen-Bradley) and HMIs (preferably GE iFIX, Rockwell FactoryTalk View, AVEVA/Wonderware System Platform)

· Knowledge of Electrical Protection Relays (SEL, Multilin, etc.)

· Familiarity with Historian systems (Canary, PI, iFix, etc.)

· Understanding of control system communications protocols



· Communicate with clients to assess their needs and explain complex issues

· Manage field activities and implement engineering designs, providing technical support and troubleshooting on-site

· Oversee equipment testing, maintenance, installation, and planning

· Direct and coordinate the work of staff, contractors, engineers, and other on-site personnel

· Attend field verification walk-downs to gather information on existing site systems and perform as-built E&I and power distribution design activities

· Participate in factory acceptance testing of company-designed E&I and power distribution systems

· Collaborate with Senior Engineering Leads and Project Managers to ensure quality deliverables, adherence to budget, etc. Provide progress reports, highlight issues, and address the need for change orders

· Willingness to travel approximately 75% of the time, including air travel


· Contribute to the creation of E&I design and electrical power distribution design deliverables

· Assist in the development of logic diagrams, cause & effect matrices, and functional narratives

· Develop and test PLC/HMI programming

· Execute factory acceptance testing
