Field Service Manager – Los Angeles (1641)

Description:
The Field Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and managing the daily operations of field service technicians and support activities in the Los Angeles area. This position requires managing a team of approximately 12 highly skilled technicians who handle troubleshooting, repair, and calibration of analytical instrumentation used in research and development laboratories. The salary range for this role is $91,000 to $103,000 per year, with the opportunity for a bonus. Additionally, the company offers comprehensive benefits, a profit sharing contribution to your 401k, and a $10,000 anniversary bonus every five years. It is important to note that this is not a service manager position for a copier company or auto dealer. The Field Operations Supervisor will report to the Service Manager responsible for the Southern Region.

Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and lead a team of field service technicians, including conducting interviews, making hiring recommendations, developing staff, assigning and scheduling work, and appraising performance.
  • Ensure technicians are properly trained and continuously improving their skills by providing regular staff training.
  • Maintain adherence to service department policies and procedures, following corporate and industry safety and quality standards, as well as ISO17025 requirements.
  • Compile and maintain operational records, such as repair time records, repair and maintenance statistics, and test results.
  • Report product failure trends and weaknesses to the appropriate product groups.
  • Implement systems to monitor technicians' performance metrics, such as MTBF (Mean Time Between Failure), MTTR (Mean Time To Repair), revenue per head, and profit margins, using SAP software and Excel macros.
  • Oversee the identification and routine calibration of test equipment required for ISO/IEC 17025 calibrations.
  • Possess at least 3 years of experience in a technical services environment.
  • Attend mandatory in-house technical training courses annually to stay up to date on new developments in the field and earn certificates upon completion.
Skills & Qualifications:
  • Demonstrate advanced knowledge of the theoretical and practical application of engineering science and technology.
  • Proficiency in using electronic schematics, electronic testing equipment, and repair tools to assist and support service engineers.
  • Hold a bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical, or chemical engineering, physics, or a related field.
  • Possess strong analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Exhibit excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as interpersonal skills.
  • Showcase exceptional customer service skills.
