Field Service Manager – Los Angeles (1661)

Description:
The Regional Service Supervisor is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Field Service Technicians and providing support in the Los Angeles, CA area. The Regional Service Supervisor oversees a team of highly skilled technicians who specialize in troubleshooting, repairing, and calibrating bench top analytical instrumentation used in R&D Labs. The salary for this position ranges from $91,000/year to $103,000/year and includes a bonus. In addition, the company offers full benefits, a profit sharing contribution to your 401k, and a $10,000 anniversary bonus every five years. Please note that this is not a Service Manager position for a copier company or auto dealer. The Regional Service Supervisor reports directly to the Service Manager for the Western Region.

Responsibilities:
  • Effectively manage a team of Field Service Technicians, which includes conducting interviews, making hiring recommendations, developing staff, assigning and scheduling work, and appraising performance.
  • Ensure that Field Service Technicians receive proper training and continually advance their skills. Conduct staff training as needed.
  • Maintain adherence to service department policies and procedures, meeting corporate and industry safety and quality standards, as well as ISO17025 requirements.
  • Compile and maintain operational records, such as repair time records, repair and maintenance statistics, and test results.
  • Report product failure trends and weaknesses to the appropriate product groups.
  • Implement and maintain effective systems for monitoring Service Technicians' performance, including calculations of MTBF (Mean Time Between Failure), MTTR (Mean Time To Repair), revenue per head, profit margins, etc. using SAP software and Excel macros.
  • Oversee the identification and routine calibration of test equipment required for ISO/IEC 17025 calibrations.
  • Possess at least 3 years of experience in a technical services environment.
  • Attend mandatory in-house technical training courses each year to stay up-to-date with new developments in the field. Certificates will be awarded upon satisfactory completion of each program.
Skills & Qualifications:
  • Demonstrate advanced knowledge of the theoretical and practical application of engineering science and technology.
  • Utilize electronic schematics, electronic testing equipment, and repair tools to assist and support service engineers.
  • Hold a Bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical, or chemical engineering, physics, or a related field.
  • Possess strong analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal skills.
  • Show exceptional customer service skills.
