Field Service Manager – Los Angeles (1661)

Description:
The role of Field Operations Supervisor in Los Angeles, CA involves overseeing and managing the day-to-day operations of a team of Field Service Technicians in the Western Region. This team consists of approximately 12 skilled technicians who specialize in troubleshooting, repairing, and calibrating analytical instrumentation used in R&D Labs. The salary for this position ranges from $91,000/year to $103,000/year, with the opportunity for bonuses and additional benefits. It's important to note that this is not a Service Manager role for a copier company or auto dealer. The Field Operations Supervisor will report to the Service Manager for the Western Region.

Responsibilities:
  • Oversee and manage a team of Field Service Technicians by conducting interviews, making hiring recommendations, developing staff, assigning and scheduling work, and appraising performance.
  • Ensure that Field Service Technicians receive proper training and have opportunities for skill advancement. Conduct staff training as necessary.
  • Maintain adherence to service department policies and procedures in compliance with corporate and industry safety and quality standards, as well as ISO17025 requirements.
  • Compile and maintain operational records, including repair time records, repair and maintenance statistics, and test results.
  • Report trends of product failure and/or weaknesses to the corresponding product groups.
  • Implement effective systems to monitor the performance of Service Technicians, utilizing tools such as SAP software and Excel macros to calculate MTBF (Mean Time Between Failure), MTTR (Mean Time To Repair), revenue per head, profit margins, etc.
  • Oversee the identification and routine calibration of test equipment required for ISO/IEC 17025 calibrations.
  • Possess at least 3 years of experience working in a technical services environment.
  • Attend mandatory in-house technical training courses each year to stay up-to-date on new developments in the field and receive certificates upon completion.
Skills & Qualifications:
  • Demonstrate advanced knowledge of the theoretical and practical application of engineering science and technology.
  • Proficiency in using electronic schematics, electronic testing equipment, and repair tools to support service engineers.
  • Hold a bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical, or chemical engineering, physics, or a related field.
  • Possess analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Exhibit excellent verbal and written communication skills with exceptional interpersonal skills.
  • Showcase exceptional customer service skills.
