Field Service Technician

Job Title: On-Site Support Technician

Location: Harrisburg, PA

Salary: $65-75K plus bonus

Job Summary of the On-Site Support Technician: We are seeking an On-Site Support Technician who is capable of providing independent repair and troubleshooting services for systems both domestically and internationally. The ideal candidate should possess strong customer service skills, excellent technical report writing abilities, and the capability to offer improvement recommendations to the Product Development Group. Additionally, the On-Site Support Technician will be responsible for system assembly, commissioning, and inspection.

Qualifications of the On-Site Support Technician:

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in a field service position with decision-making responsibilities
  • Certification or degree in Electronics or Electrical Engineering
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally, estimated at 70% of the time
  • Proficiency in writing trip reports, return material authorizations, test reports, and corrective action reports
  • Highly preferred knowledge of PLC's
  • Proficiency in reading and troubleshooting systems using electrical schematics
  • Strong skills in using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint in a Windows environment
  • Possession of a clean driving record
  • Comfort working at heights

· Experience using PLCs, VFDs, data acquisition, wiring, power equipment, and industrial electricity is required. Experience with Siemens, ABB, and TMEiC platforms is highly preferred.

· Must currently hold or be able to obtain a valid passport with proper documentation for international travel

Responsibilities of the On-Site Support Technician:

· Regularly interact with customers, end-users, vendors, and contractors

· Assist in scheduling and coordinating the participation of relevant parties during onsite equipment installation, start-up, and commissioning activities

· Coordinate internally to ensure prompt response to customer inquiries

· Troubleshoot PLCs, VFDs, and other automated equipment both onsite and remotely

· Repair equipment at customer facilities, addressing both warranty and non-warranty claims

· Conduct routine inspections of existing system installations

· Take ownership of pre-commissioning activities in mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and automation disciplines, ensuring quality work and reports

· Travel to customer sites to perform final commissioning and demonstrate equipment functions as per specifications

· Support the project team in clearing and signing-off all mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and automation punch list items

· Participate in project and construction meetings as necessary

· Deliver technical training to end-user operators and maintenance personnel

· Act as a trouble-shooter, analyzing and resolving technical issues onsite, and providing ongoing support to customers

· Independently coordinate site visits with customers and/or end-users

· Manage all travel arrangements, including airfare, lodging, and ground transportation

· Provide direct technical support to customers, contractors, sales, and engineering for testing and field service activities
