Field Service Technician

Job Title: Field Support Engineer

Location: Hartford, CT

Salary: $65,000-75,000 with bonus

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated Field Support Engineer who can effectively interact with customers, generate technical reports, and provide valuable recommendations for product development. The Field Support Engineer will be responsible for independently assembling, commissioning, inspecting, diagnosing, and resolving system issues both domestically and internationally.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in a field support role with decision-making responsibilities
  • Degree or certification in Electronics or Electrical Engineering
  • Ability to travel up to 70% of the time, both domestically and internationally
  • Proficiency in writing trip reports, authorizing material returns, conducting test reports, and implementing corrective actions
  • Familiarity with PLCs is highly desired
  • Capability to read, comprehend, and troubleshoot electrical schematics
  • Proficiency in working with Windows environment and software, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Clean driving record
  • Ability to work at heights without fear

· Knowledge and experience in using PLCs, VFDs, data acquisition, wiring, power equipment, and industrial electricity is necessary. Prior experience with Siemens, ABB, and TMEiC platforms is highly preferred.

· Must possess a valid passport or have the ability to obtain one for international travel

Responsibilities:

· Regularly engage with customers, end-users, vendors, and contractors

· Schedule and coordinate the involvement of relevant parties during equipment installation and start-up activities

· Coordinate internally to ensure prompt response to customer inquiries

· Diagnose and troubleshoot PLCs, VFDs, and other automated equipment on-site and remotely

· Perform repairs of installed equipment at customer facilities, including warranty and non-warranty claims

· Conduct routine inspections of existing system installations

· Ensure accurate implementation of pre-commissioning activities in mechanical, electrical, and automation disciplines, including producing quality reports

· Travel to customer sites to conduct final commissioning and demonstrate equipment functions according to specifications for customer acceptance

· Support the project team in resolving mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and automation punch list items in alignment with project requirements

· Participate in project and construction meetings as necessary

· Provide technical training to end-user operators and maintenance personnel

· Respond to on-site technical issues, analyze and resolve faults, and be available for subsequent technical inquiries from customers

· Independently coordinate details of site visits with customers and end-users prior to departure

· Manage all travel arrangements, including airfare, lodging, and ground transportation

· Provide direct technical support to customers, contractors, sales, and engineering for testing and field service activities
