Description of Responsibilities

The Financial Controller is responsible for overseeing the accounting functions and financial transactions of the company.

Reporting Relationship

Reports to the President

Scope of Supervision

Supervises the Finance Assistant

Responsibilities of the Financial Controller include the following:

1. Ensure accurate management of company finances, including timely deposits and bank account reconciliation.

2. Oversee the Accounts Payable department and its activities.

3. Collaborate with Human Resources to ensure accurate payroll processing and payments.

4. Ensure timely payment of all taxes owed by the company.

5. Prepare monthly financial statements and make necessary adjustments.

6. Collaborate with the President to develop an annual budget plan and monitor expenses for compliance with the budget.

7. Promote a positive work environment and contribute to the overall team effort of the company.

8. Assist with financial audits as requested by the President.

9. Collaborate with external accountants to ensure compliance with GAAP.

10. Ensure compliance with laws and regulations, accreditation standards, and implement best practices in all financial activities.

11. Participate in surveys conducted by authorized inspection agencies.

12. Contribute to the Performance Improvement program as requested by Human Resources.

13. Participate in company committees when necessary.

14. Attend in-service education programs provided by the company.

15. Pursue continuing education programs relevant to the role.

16. Perform other assigned duties as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Strong organizational and delegation skills

2. Ability to maintain accurate records consistently

3. Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Management or 10 years of progressive accounting experience

4. Knowledge of accounting and financial management practices

5. Strong decision-making abilities

6. Proficiency in spreadsheets, word processing, internet, and email

Physical Requirements

1. Regularly standing, walking, sitting, talking, and hearing

2. Using hands to operate office equipment and vehicles

3. Occasional lifting and/or moving up to 20 pounds
