Fire Alarm and Suppression Systems Technician
We are seeking dedicated professionals skilled in Fire Safety Systems who are passionate about providing exceptional customer support and ensuring life safety.
In this role, your responsibilities will include conducting inspections, installations, testing, services, and repairs for fire alarm systems, as well as engineered and pre-engineered suppression systems. You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with relevant life-safety and fire-safety standards, codes, regulations, customer requirements, and the company's expectations. This position is fast-paced and demanding, with high visibility within the company.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform inspections, installations, and tests on various types of fire alarm systems and engineered/pre-engineered suppression systems, in accordance with NFPA codes and standards
- Program, test, conduct final inspections, create as-built drawings, and provide customer training for installations
- Troubleshoot and repair fire alarm systems and engineered/pre-engineered suppression systems
- Accurately record and document inspections, repairs, discrepancies, and recommendations electronically or manually
- Maintain a strong and positive relationship with customers and relay information to relevant personnel for follow-up, quotes, questions, or concerns
- Maintain a clean and organized vehicle, stocked with necessary parts, equipment, and supplies
- Maintain and safely operate the equipment and tools required for the job
- Evaluate customer sites for potential additional equipment and services
- Adhere to the company's safety program and guidelines
- Provide on-site and/or phone-based emergency troubleshooting for fire alarm and suppression systems
- Communicate identified deficiencies with customers, explaining the problem and its resolution
- Occasionally work on nights, weekends, and/or holidays, as required by the job location
- Comfortably work at heights, operate ladders or lifts, and in confined spaces, as needed
QUALIFICATIONS
- Hold a valid Ohio fire alarm/suppression license
- NICET Certification in Fire Alarm Systems is preferred
- Experience with electrical wiring and circuitry is desired
- Prior experience with fire alarm systems in any of the following capacities: installation, inspection, testing, commissioning, technical system estimating and sales, plans preparation, or maintenance
- Proficient in basic math skills, including fractions, decimals, and percentages
- Working knowledge of basic computer functions, and the ability to learn and utilize industry-specific devices and software
- Familiarity with low voltage systems and wiring
- Able to read and interpret blueprints and wiring diagrams
- Hold a valid U.S. driver's license
