Fire Alarm and Suppression Systems Technician

We are looking for Fire Safety Technicians in Columbus, OH who are passionate about providing exceptional customer service and ensuring the safety of individuals.

This individual will be responsible for conducting inspections, installing, testing, servicing, and repairing fire alarm systems, as well as engineered and pre-engineered suppression systems. They will ensure compliance with relevant life-safety and fire-safety regulations and standards set by manufacturers, federal, state, and local ordinances, customer requirements, and company expectations. This role is fast-paced, challenging, and highly visible within the organization.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Carry out installations, inspections, and testing of various fire alarm and engineered and pre-engineered suppression systems according to the frequency requirements outlined in the applicable NFPA codes and standards.
  • Program, test, and perform final inspections, create as-built drawings, and provide customer training for installations.
  • Troubleshoot and provide service and repair for fire alarm and engineered and pre-engineered suppression systems.
  • Record and document all inspections, repairs, discrepancies, and recommendations either electronically or through manual methods.
  • Maintain positive relationships with customers and communicate relevant information to the appropriate personnel for follow-up, quotes, questions, or concerns.
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization of the assigned vehicle and keep it stocked with necessary parts, equipment, and supplies required for the job.
  • Maintain equipment and tools necessary for safe job performance.
  • Evaluate customer sites for additional equipment and services that may be required.
  • Adhere to the company's safety program and work in compliance with safety protocols.
  • Provide on-site and/or off-site (phone) emergency troubleshooting for fire alarm and suppression systems.
  • Discuss identified deficiencies with customers, explaining the problems and suggesting resolutions.
  • Occasionally work on nights, weekends, and/or holidays, depending on location and demand. Discuss specific requirements with your Manager.
  • Be comfortable working at heights, on ladders or lifts, and in confined spaces.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Hold a valid fire alarm/suppression license in the state of Ohio.
  • Preferred NICET Certification in Fire Alarm Systems.
  • Experience with electrical wiring and circuitry is desired.
  • Prior experience with fire alarm systems in roles such as installation, inspection, testing, commissioning, technical system estimating and sales, plans preparation, or maintenance.
  • Basic math skills, including fractions, decimals, and percentages.
  • Proficiency in operating basic computer functions and willingness to learn industry-specific devices and software.
  • Knowledge and understanding of low voltage and wiring principles.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and wiring diagrams.
  • Hold a valid U.S. driver's license.
