Fire Alarm and Suppression Systems Technician
We are seeking experienced professionals in the field of Fire Protection Systems to join our team in Toledo, OH. Our ideal candidate is a dedicated individual who is passionate about customer support and prioritizes life safety.
In this role, you will be responsible for conducting inspections, installing, testing, servicing, and repairing various fire alarm systems, as well as engineered and pre-engineered suppression systems. Compliance with life-safety and fire-safety requirements, as dictated by standards, codes, manufacturers' instructions, federal, state, and local ordinances, customer demands, and company expectations, is paramount. This position offers a fast-paced environment with high visibility within the organization.
JOB DESCRIPTION
- Carry out installations, inspections, and tests of fire alarm systems and engineered and pre-engineered suppression systems, adhering to the required frequencies outlined in applicable NFPA codes and standards
- Program, test, conduct final inspections, create as-built drawings, and provide customer training for installations
- Troubleshoot and perform maintenance and repairs on fire alarm and engineered and pre-engineered suppression systems
- Thoroughly record and document all inspections, repairs, discrepancies, and recommendations using electronic or manual means
- Cultivate positive relationships with customers and relay relevant information to appropriate personnel for follow-up, quotes, inquiries, or issues
- Maintain a clean and organized vehicle and ensure it is stocked with necessary parts, equipment, and supplies to carry out job responsibilities
- Safeguard and maintain equipment and tools essential for safe job execution
- Evaluate customer sites to identify additional equipment and services they may require
- Work in compliance with the company's safety program
- Conduct on-site and/or off-site emergency troubleshooting of fire alarm and suppression systems via phone
- Communicate identified deficiencies to customers, providing clear explanations of the problem and its resolution
- Occasionally work nights, weekends, and/or holidays, as required by specific situations. Frequency of such demands may vary depending on location; discuss with your Manager
- Comply with safety standards when working at heights, on ladders or lifts, or in confined spaces
QUALIFICATIONS
- Hold a fire alarm/suppression license in Ohio
- Preferred NICET Certification in Fire Alarm Systems
- Experience with electrical wiring and circuitry is desirable
- Proven experience in fire alarm systems, encompassing alarm and detection, notification, sprinkler monitoring, and interfaces and controls for agent releasing suppression systems (whether agent or water-based) in any of the following roles/functions:
- installation
- inspection
- testing
- commissioning
- technical system estimating and sales
- plans preparation
- maintenance
- Possess basic math skills, including fractions, decimals, and percentages
- Exhibit competency in basic computer functions and willingness to learn and utilize industry-specific devices and software
- Familiarity with low voltage systems and wiring
- Able to read and interpret blueprints and wiring diagrams
- Maintain a valid U.S. driver's license
