Fire Alarm and Suppression Systems Technician
We are seeking skilled professionals in the field of Fire Protection Systems who are dedicated to providing exceptional customer support and ensuring life safety.
The responsibilities of this position include conducting inspections, installations, testing, and providing service and repairs for fire alarm systems, as well as both engineered and pre-engineered suppression systems. Compliance with relevant life-safety and fire-safety regulations, standards, codes, customer requirements, and company expectations is a key aspect of the job. This role is fast-paced and demanding, offering high visibility within the company.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Install, inspect, and test various types of fire alarm systems, as well as engineered and pre-engineered suppression systems, according to the applicable NFPA codes and standards
- Program, test, conduct final inspections, create as-built drawings, and provide customer training for installations
- Troubleshoot and perform service and repairs on fire alarm systems and engineered and pre-engineered suppression systems
- Maintain comprehensive records of inspections, repairs, discrepancies, and recommendations electronically or manually
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with customers, and communicate relevant information to the appropriate personnel for follow-up, quotes, questions, or concerns
- Keep company vehicle clean and organized, and ensure it is stocked with necessary parts, equipment, and supplies
- Maintain and safely operate necessary equipment and tools
- Evaluate customer sites to identify additional equipment and services that may be required
- Adhere to the Company's safety program
- Provide on-site and/or off-site (phone) emergency troubleshooting for fire alarm and suppression systems
- Discuss identified deficiencies with customers, explaining the problem and its resolution
- Occasional work on nights, weekends, and/or holidays may be required, with frequency varying by location. Discuss with Manager for clarity.
- Comfortable with working at heights, on ladders or lifts, or in confined spaces
QUALIFICATIONS
- Hold a valid fire alarm/suppression license in Ohio
- Desirable to have NICET Certification in Fire Alarm Systems
- Experience with electrical wiring and circuitry is preferred
- Prior experience with fire alarm systems, including alarm and detection, notification, sprinkler monitoring, and interfaces and controls for agent releasing suppression systems (agent or water-based) in roles such as installation, inspection, testing, commissioning, technical system estimating and sales, plans preparation, or maintenance
- Basic math skills, including fractions, decimals, and percentages
- Proficient in basic computer functions, and willing to learn and use industry-specific devices and software
- Knowledge and understanding of low voltage systems and wiring
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and wiring diagrams
- Valid U.S. driver's license
