Plant Reliability Engineer

We are currently seeking a Plant Reliability Engineer to provide engineering services for our fixed equipment assets, including boilers, heat exchangers, process heaters, pressure vessels, and piping. In this role, you will collaborate closely with various departments such as Inspection, Maintenance, Operations, Turnaround, and Capital Projects to ensure the safe, compliant, and reliable operation of our plant located in Lemont, IL.

Responsibilities

  • Offer technical support to the area team and other refinery personnel
  • Conduct incident investigations to accurately determine the root causes of failures and develop recommendations to prevent future occurrences
  • Troubleshoot issues related to pressure vessels, heat exchangers, bolted joints, and more
  • Collaborate with Inspection and Corrosion Engineers to assess equipment damage mechanisms and provide suggestions for potential projects and initiatives to enhance equipment reliability
  • Contribute to the development of Corrosion Control Documents and Integrity Operating Windows
  • Conduct Fitness-for-Service assessments and remaining life calculations
  • Create repair procedures for damaged equipment
  • Play an active role in turnaround planning and execution to achieve fixed equipment reliability improvement objectives
  • Oversee the procurement of like-in-kind replacements for fixed equipment
  • Provide technical support to Reliability-driven Capital Projects

Minimum/Preferred Qualifications **No Sponsorship provided

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering
  • 5 years of relevant job experience
  • Preferred: 10+ years of relevant job experience
  • Experience at a refinery, chemical plant, or heavy industrial facility is a plus
  • Familiarity with design/construction codes and standards such as ASME Section I, ASME Section VIII, ASME B31.3, API 510, API 570, and API 571 is preferred
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Ability to obtain a Transportation Worker's Identification Credential (TWIC)
