Job Title: Food Safety and Quality Manager

Location: Schulenburg, TX

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee all quality and food safety functions at the plant level, ensuring that all products meet or exceed customer, regulatory, and company requirements.
  • Direct the Quality Assurance department in selecting, developing, and motivating team members to achieve quality and food safety goals.
  • Implement effective food safety processes and procedures to monitor raw materials, in-process, and finished products for compliance with regulatory and company requirements.
  • Organize, staff, and train the Quality Assurance department to meet plant and departmental goals.
  • Take charge of all food safety efforts within the plant.
  • Maintain open communication with plant and upper management regarding any issues and contribute to the achievement of quality and food safety goals.
  • Establish a professional working relationship with USDA staff as a plant liaison.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate food safety and quality programs, maintain necessary documentation, and provide ongoing education to plant associates.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science or related field with a minimum of 10 years of experience in a quality or food safety setting.
  • Must have at least 3 years of experience in a supervisory capacity in quality management.
  • Must have at least 3 years of experience working in a poultry plant.
  • HACCP certification is required.
  • Experience in leading a food facility to achieve GFSI compliance (BRC, SQF).
  • Familiarity with digital databases and data collection systems (such as Safety Chain, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of management principles and team dynamics.
