Food Safety Quality Assurance (FSQA) Manager
Responsibilities: The position of Food Safety Manager in Perry, GA entails providing effective leadership, guidance, and implementation of quality and food safety functions in the plant. The selected individual will be responsible for ensuring that all products meet or exceed customer, regulatory, and company requirements. They will also oversee the Quality Assurance team, ensuring the selection, development, and motivation of team members to achieve quality and food safety goals. Specific duties include:
- Efficiently managing all activities of the Quality Assurance/Food Safety department to consistently achieve food safety targets determined through company metrics and regulatory mandates.
- Developing, documenting, and implementing food safety procedures to monitor incoming raw materials, in-process, and finished products in order to comply with regulatory and company requirements and specifications.
- Enforcing the company's FSQA standards as outlined in the plant's HACCP, LCP, Salmonella/Campy standards, specifications, quality manual, and other programs, while maintaining necessary documentation.
- Ensuring that the Quality Assurance department is well-organized, adequately staffed, and trained to meet plant and departmental goals.
- Taking charge of all food safety initiatives within the plant.
- Managing the activities of the Quality Assurance department in a manner that keeps plant and upper management fully informed about any issues and assists in achieving quality and food safety goals.
- Developing a professional working relationship and serving as a plant liaison with USDA staff.
- Implementing corporate food safety and quality programs, maintaining required documentation, and providing ongoing education to plant associates as required.
Requirements: The ideal candidate for the position of Food Safety Manager in Perry, GA should possess a Bachelor's Degree in Food Science or a related field, along with a minimum of 10 years of experience in a quality or food safety setting. Specific requirements include:
- MUST HAVE a minimum of 3 years of experience in a quality supervisory role (management experience is strongly preferred).
- MUST HAVE at least 3 years of experience working in a poultry plant.
- HACCP certification is a must.
- Experience in leading a food facility to achieve GFSI compliance (BRC, SQF).
- Experience and/or knowledge in working with digital databases and data collection systems (such as Safety Chain, etc.).
- Understanding of management principles and team dynamics.
