Food Safety Quality Assurance (FSQA) Manager

Location: Dillon, SC

Responsibilities: The position of Food Safety Manager in Dillon, SC involves taking charge of all quality and food safety functions at the plant level. The main objective is to ensure that all products meet or exceed customer, regulatory, and company requirements. The Food Safety Manager will oversee the Quality Assurance department, guiding and motivating team members to achieve quality and food safety goals. Key responsibilities include:

  • Implementing effective management practices in the Quality Assurance/Food Safety department to consistently achieve food safety results that align with the company's matrix and regulatory mandates.
  • Developing, documenting, and implementing food safety processes and procedures to monitor incoming raw materials, as well as in-process and finished products, to ensure compliance with all regulatory and company standards.
  • Enforcing the company's food safety and quality standards, as outlined in the plant's HACCP, LCP, Salmonella/Campy standards, quality manual, and other relevant programs. Ensuring required documentation is maintained.
  • Organizing, staffing, and training the Quality Assurance department to effectively contribute to plant and departmental goals.
  • Taking the lead in driving food safety initiatives across the plant.
  • Keeping plant and upper management fully informed of any issues related to quality and food safety goals, while also contributing to the achievement of those goals.
  • Building a professional working relationship and acting as a liaison with USDA staff.
  • Enforcing corporate food safety and quality programs, maintaining necessary documentation, and providing ongoing education to plant associates as required.

Requirements: To qualify for the role of Food Safety Manager, candidates must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science or a related field, along with at least 10 years of experience in a quality or food safety setting. Specific requirements include:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a supervisory capacity, preferably within quality management.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience working in a poultry plant.
  • Valid HACCP certification.
  • Experience in leading a food facility in GFSI compliance, preferably with certifications in BRC or SQF. PCQI certification is also desirable.
  • Familiarity with digital databases and data collection systems, such as Safety Chain, etc.
  • An understanding of management principles and team concepts.
**Poultry industry experience is a mandatory requirement for this position.**
