Forensic Fire Protection Engineer Commercial (remote)

Location: Cincinnati, OH

Position: Forensic Fire Protection Engineer- REMOTE

(This is a remote position, but candidates must be located in the Central US to travel to project sites)


The primary responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Conduct thorough inspections of fire-related losses or failures in fire protection systems

  • Gather and analyze data at the location of a loss or incident

  • Document findings and evidence from investigations

  • Photograph and record damage and evidence related to fires or losses

  • Provide expert analysis of system failures

  • Conduct research and prepare comprehensive reports

  • Interview witnesses, property owners, and occupants to gather relevant information

  • Provide testimony in court cases related to investigated losses


  • Strong understanding of the scientific method and its application in loss investigations

  • Up-to-date knowledge in the area of fire investigations as outlined in NFPA 1033

  • Willingness and ability to travel as necessary

  • Physical agility to navigate fire scenes, climb, crawl, and use ladders

  • Ability to analyze loss sites and identify potential failures

  • Adept knowledge of both active and passive fire protection systems


A Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Fire Protection Engineering is required. Professional Engineering Registration is also required. Preferably, candidates should have 4-6 years of experience in the field.
