FPGA Engineer
Digital Design Engineer
Location: Rochester, New York
Work Schedule: This position follows a 9/80 schedule, where employees work 9 out of every 14 days, totaling 80 hours worked, and have every other Friday off.
Job Description:
We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our collaborative team in developing and verifying advanced digital designs for software-defined radio applications. In this role, you will analyze requirements, create design specifications and plans, code firmware designs using VHDL, develop test benches using System Verilog, and ensure that designs meet the specified requirements.
Main Responsibilities:
- Expertise in implementing complex modem and/or DSP circuits using FPGA devices. Experience in ASIC design is also applicable.
- Extensive knowledge of embedded system design and solutions for communication systems.
- Architect, implement, and verify complex algorithms in FPGAs and software.
- Perform detailed analysis, including requirements analysis, use case scenarios, conceptual design, trade studies, testing, operation, and maintenance of radio communications products.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and refine design requirements and implement them.
- Create comprehensive test benches for FPGA design verification and validation using SystemVerilog.
- Assist in developing high-level and detailed verification test plans in line with system requirements and specifications.
- Prepare design and implementation reviews and present technical briefings and status updates to internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field and a minimum of 4 years of previous experience in developing and verifying FPGA/ASIC based embedded system solutions.
- Graduate Degree in a relevant field and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience in developing and verifying FPGA/ASIC based embedded system solutions.
- In the absence of a degree, a minimum of 8 years of previous related experience in developing and verifying FPGA/ASIC based embedded system solutions.
Preferred Skills:
- Working knowledge and experience in testing and debugging MODEM RF designs.
- Experience with MatLab, Simulink, or similar DSP modeling tools.
- Familiarity with Universal Verification Methodology (UVM).
- Working knowledge and experience with vendor-specific FPGA verification tools (Mentor Questa, Visualizer).
- Proven ability to analyze and debug FPGA firmware and related hardware issues.
- Active SECRET Clearance.
- Proficiency in FPGA/ASIC development using VHDL or Verilog.
- Experience in FPGA/ASIC verification using SystemVerilog.
- Understanding of communication system signal processing theory and waveform design.
- Experience with FPGA Vendor Specific FPGA Implementation tools (Vivado/Quartus/Libero).
- Ability to efficiently work with remotely located teams and colleagues.
- Motivated self-starter who excels in team environments.
- Strong technical writing skills and ability to effectively communicate technical concepts and solutions both internally and externally.
- Experience/proficiency with TCL and Python scripting languages.
- Experience working in a Linux-based development environment.
