General Manager of Talent Management

We are seeking a highly qualified individual for the position of Director of People Development and Retention located in Georgetown, KY. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in talent acquisition, management, and development, along with exceptional communication skills. They should have a desire and ability to drive positive change and demonstrate the capability to interact with credibility and authority at all levels of leadership within the organization. In addition, this role will involve mentoring the training team staff to foster the ongoing development of team members.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic:

  • Develop and execute the organization's talent management strategy, aligning it with the long-term business objectives and goals.
  • Create and implement strategies to foster a high-performance culture within the organization.
  • Conduct research on organizational and team performance, identify areas for improvement, develop solutions, and oversee their implementation and evaluation.
  • Utilize Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to evaluate progress, make informed decisions, and enhance existing processes.
  • Collaborate with HR Team, Division Heads, SBU Heads, and Executives to understand talent requirements and provide strategic guidance accordingly.
  • Establish strong partnerships with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment with talent management strategies.
  • Effectively manage the talent management budget, optimizing resources to achieve maximum impact.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of Talent Management strategies, identifying areas for improvement and implementing necessary changes on an ongoing basis.
  • Establish a tracking and measurement approach to monitor progress and provide regular status reports to SBU leaders.

Talent Acquisition:

  • Collaborate with executive leadership to identify talent needs and plan for workforce requirements.
  • Oversee and manage all aspects of the hiring process, including forecasting, sourcing, candidate selection, and offer negotiation.

Talent Management:

  • Develop and manage the performance management process, which includes goal setting, feedback, calibration, and performance evaluations.
  • Implement succession planning strategies to identify and cultivate high-potential employees for future leadership roles.
  • Create and maintain talent pipelines to ensure a strong pool of potential leaders for the next decade.
  • Utilize data and metrics to assess the effectiveness of talent management initiatives and drive continuous improvement.
  • Monitor key talent metrics, such as employee retention, engagement, and progress in development programs.
  • Develop and implement retention strategies to minimize turnover and retain top talent within the organization.
  • Identify and address factors that contribute to employee attrition, implementing necessary measures to improve retention rates.

Talent Development:

  • Manage all aspects of employee, leader, and organizational learning programs, including needs analysis, design, development, delivery, and evaluation.
  • Collaborate with HR and business leaders to administer career and talent assessments for identifying employee readiness, talent gaps, and retention risks.
  • Work closely with managers to identify training needs and create learning opportunities for employees.
  • Oversee the corporate university, ensuring a comprehensive focus on vision, communications, competency mapping, data analysis, and business value creation.
  • Develop training and development plans aligned with career progression for each position type within the organization.
  • Design leadership development programs to enhance leadership skills at all levels of the organization, addressing succession gaps as well.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

The ideal candidate for the role of Director of People Development and Retention should possess a Master's degree in HR, OD, Business, or a related field, and have 10-15 years of experience in Learning & Development.

The following experience is highly desirable:

  • Expertise in talent acquisition and management processes.
  • Experience in conducting performance management cycles.
  • Strong background in long-term succession planning.
  • Previous experience working in a large cross-matrixed organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a large company environment.
  • Experience in designing scalable classroom-led and eLearning solutions.
  • Excellent knowledge of learning theories and instructional design models.
  • Proven ability to independently manage and deliver multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong skills in lesson and curriculum planning.
  • Experience in project management.
  • Ability to write effective copy, instructional text, audio scripts, and video scripts.
  • Strong interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Preferred certifications in psychometric and assessments.
  • Experience with Gallop Strength-Finder, DiSC, PxT Select, and 360 Profiler is a plus.
  • Preferred certification as a DDI Certified Facilitator or other relevant credentials.
  • SHRM – SCP/CP certification is a plus.
