Grants and Compliance Accounting Manager – Part Time

Our client, an innovative and purpose-driven organization, is seeking a Manager of Grants and Compliance Accounting to play a vital role in overseeing and managing the day-to-day operations of their grant programs. This position is essential for ensuring adherence to legal and financial regulations while facilitating a smooth and efficient flow of funding processes.

Primary Responsibilities: As the Manager of Grants and Compliance Accounting, your responsibilities will include:

  • Supervising the entire lifecycle of grants, from proposal development and submission to monitoring and compliance, ensuring a streamlined process.
  • Ensuring strict adherence to funding source guidelines by meticulously reviewing and understanding grant terms and conditions to ensure compliance with funder requirements.
  • Leading the preparation and oversight of grant budgets, ensuring accuracy and alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Maintaining precise financial records and generating timely quarterly financial statements.
  • Collaborating with auditors to successfully complete government audits, ensuring compliance with all regulatory and financial standards.
  • Monitoring grant spending to ensure it remains in line with budget projections and guidelines.
  • Working closely with sub-grantees to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with US private foundation regulations and Indian FCRA laws.
  • Reviewing and coordinating the preparation of legal documents, such as grant agreements, sub-award agreements, and service contracts.
  • Ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards (GAGAS).
  • Taking on additional responsibilities as required to support the smooth operation of the organization.

Qualifications & Experience: The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in the nonprofit sector, with expertise in general accounting, budget development, grants management, and compliance.
  • Proficiency in 2 C.F.R. 200 (Uniform Guidance) and its application within a nonprofit context.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with meticulous attention to detail, along with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
  • A resourceful, adaptable, and collaborative mindset, with the ability to efficiently address complex issues.
  • Strong analytical skills, enabling the compilation and analysis of data to produce clear and concise reports.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in accounting software, preferably Sage Intacct or a similar ERP system.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace tools.
