Job Description:
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills essential.
  • Effective communication is critical for success in this role.
  • Proficient in writing health grants, justifications, and facilitating grant approval.
  • Vital role in community outreach for the clinic.
  • Conduct research in the field of public health.
  • Educate individuals on various health issues.
  • Manage the development, implementation, and assessment of preventive Occupational Health services aligned with the Center's mission.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on outreach, education, research, and other collaborative projects.
Responsibilities:
  • Establish connections with community leaders, such as union leaders and attorneys.
  • Oversee the ongoing development of outreach and education programs.
  • Participate in the design and execution of outreach and education initiatives.
  • Create a Needs Assessment to guide program activities.
  • Develop strategies to increase program awareness among target groups.
  • Coordinate and provide oversight for agencies contracted by the Occupational Health Clinical Center to deliver outreach services.
  • Collect and organize data to support various projects at the center.
  • Create educational materials for distribution.
  • Analyze data from research and other projects, and compile results for publications and reports.
  • Manage the Occupational Health Clinical Center resource library.
  • Develop grant proposals to secure funding for specific Occupational Health Clinical Center projects.
  • Address requests for technical assistance from staff, patients, medical community, unions, and others.
Academic Responsibilities:
  • Teach 1-2 graduate courses/seminars for medical and public health students once a year.
  • Supervise students pursuing a Master's in Public Health or related degrees during their field placements at the Occupational Health Clinical Center.
  • Pursue research projects.
  • Mentor Master's in Public Health or medical students in independent research endeavors.
  • Deliver individual modules as needed within the Health Systems Science Intersession on Population Health.
Requirements:
  • Master's in Public Health with additional graduate-level training focused on social and behavioral aspects of occupational health required.
  • Prior experience in public health required.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years' experience in academic and occupational health settings required.
  • Doctoral degree in Public Health or related social science preferred.
  • Demonstrated initiative and commitment to the field of occupational health required.
  • Passion for public health and willingness to engage in a range of duties, from data analysis to community worker interactions.
  • Strong project management skills required.
  • Ability to support scholarly activities in occupational health, including proficiency in medical, public health, and social science literature required.
  • Capability to establish and coordinate collaborations with academic and community-based organizations, work in interdisciplinary teams, and engage with advisory board members and external professionals required.
  • Proficiency in research skills, including:
  • Ability to extract data from various sources.
  • Utilization of computer applications (e.g., SAS, Excel, NVivo, Maxq) for data analysis.
  • Preparation of written work for publication, grant proposals, and public presentations.
  • Background in academia advantageous.
