O&M Technician – High Voltage Electrician
Location: Providence, RI

Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled O&M Technician – High Voltage Electrician to join our power generation team. This role focuses on maintaining and troubleshooting high-voltage electrical systems and equipment to ensure operational reliability and safety. Candidates should have strong experience in electrical maintenance within industrial or power plant settings, with hands-on expertise in switchgear, motors, breakers, and high-voltage operations.
Key Responsibilities

Conduct all work in a safe, professional, and environmentally responsible manner

Maintain and repair high-voltage equipment and systems (e.g., 4160V breakers, motors, transformers)

Perform predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance
-
Execute high-voltage switching orders, remote and manual racking of breakers
-
Ground motors, transformers, and circuit breakers; conduct Megger testing
-
Read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics
-
Remove and replace generator bushings and flex links with documented training
-
Participate in equipment tag-outs, outages, weekend and holiday shifts
-
Manage contractors and support training of other electricians

Ensure compliance with safety programs including OSHA and QEW standards
Preferred Qualifications
Must have at least one of the following:

Electrical Maintenance: Troubleshooting high-voltage switchgear, motors, and plant wiring using precision test equipment

Instrumentation & Control: Breaker setting, relay programming, understanding MCC control systems

Mechanical Maintenance: Mechanical repair of high-voltage equipment
Required Skills & Experience
-
10+ years of relevant high-voltage experience, preferably in a power plant setting
-
Strong knowledge of high-voltage electrical safety practices
-
Experience managing high-voltage electrical switching and grounding procedures
-
Capable of performing physical tasks: lifting 40–75 lbs., climbing, bending, kneeling, etc.

Proficient in Microsoft Office and technical software tools

Strong communication, organization, and decision-making skills

Ability to multitask and adapt to changing work priorities

Comfortable working independently and collaboratively within a team

Valid Driver’s License
