Hospital Controller
The Hospital Controller supports the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in various financial operations, including monthly financial review, analysis, and planning, monitoring key performance indicators, and overseeing supply chain and revenue cycle operations. They also assist the Market CFO in protecting hospital assets and ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) in preparing and maintaining financial statements and records. Additionally, they provide training, continuous improvement, and support to department leaders and staff regarding financial operations. The Hospital Controller is responsible for the market's annual operating budget, forecasting, and meeting audit requirements for Graduate Medical Education (GME) and Laboratory services. They also oversee Shared Services, Lab, GME entities, and other market support functions as needed.
- Participate in the market's long-term and short-term financial process, analyze deficiencies, and prepare reports
- Provide director-level oversight for finance teams in Lab and GME
- Collaborate with hospital controllers to optimize performance
- Develop work plans with department leaders and staff to enhance financial operations and measure financial impact
- Ensure compliance with Internal Audit department activities and complete self-audit risk assessments
- Maintain SOX compliance and review and audit practices within the organization and affiliates
- Generate timely and accurate month-end reports and performance analysis for revenue and cost
- Review balance sheet reconciliations and identify areas of shortfall
- Complete quarterly and routine forecasts for CFO review and approval
- Prepare annual operating budget for market entities, gather information, and collaborate with department leaders
- Assist department heads in program planning, budgeting, and organizational goal achievement
- Prepare revenue, cost, and service line analysis, and develop pro forma as needed
- Collaborate closely with CFO on financial operations management initiatives
- Perform CFO responsibilities when necessary
- Other duties as assigned
Required: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent experience
Experience- Required: Five (5) years of experience in hospital accounting or finance
- Preferred: Seven (7) years of experience in hospital accounting or finance
