The Role: Safety Coordinator
Location: Toledo, OH
About Us
The Environmental Health & Safety Coordinator is responsible for developing, administering, and implementing companywide occupational safety programs. They also serve as the coordinator for occupational safety programs within one or more divisions and/or departments.
Your Impact
- Leadership & Program Management: Develop, implement, and maintain occupational safety programs to meet compliance standards and organizational goals.
- Compliance & Training: Stay updated with legislation, align health and safety policies with regulations, and provide training for employees at all levels.
- Risk Mitigation: Identify workplace risks, conduct incident investigations, and propose solutions to eliminate or minimize accidents.
- Continuous Improvement: Encourage innovative ideas to enhance safety programs and reduce the facility's environmental impact.
- Collaboration: Work with project managers to assess safety implications of new initiatives and process modifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain health and safety objectives, targets, and control procedures to meet legal and organizational requirements.
- Conduct weekly inspections, audits, and compliance checks related to health and safety.
- Deliver training sessions to ensure all employees possess the necessary knowledge for safe work practices.
- Investigate safety breaches and implement strategies to prevent them.
- Oversee replenishment of first aid supplies and personal protective equipment.
- Lead or participate in cross-functional teams to address safety concerns and implement effective solutions.
What We're Looking For
- Excellent communication skills with proven leadership and team motivation abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and database systems; advanced skills in MS Suite preferred.
- Detail-oriented, analytical thinker with strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment with a comprehensive understanding of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations.
- Enthusiastic, self-motivated, and service-oriented with a successful track record of managing multiple projects.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field with a minimum of 1 year of experience, or 5 years of safety-related experience in manufacturing.
- Safety certifications (such as CRSP, Workplace Hazardous Materials Information) are highly desirable.
- Knowledge of workers' compensation legislation and safety management systems.
