Human Resource Generalist
Open Position: Human Resources Generalist
Job Location: Cranberry Twp, PA
About Our Company:
Our client, an esteemed manufacturer located North of Pittsburgh, is seeking a driven and experienced Human Resources Generalist. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of HR operations. The ideal candidate must be proactive, hands-on, and possess a deep understanding of tactical HR work.
Responsibilities:
· Provide guidance and advice to executive leadership, managers, supervisors, and employees regarding employment laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and best practices
· Act as the main point of contact for external agencies such as the Department of Labor (DOL), Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission (PHRC), and represent the company in unemployment hearings
· Manage employee relations activities and proactively prevent unionization, while staying updated on all government regulations including but not limited to FMLA, COBRA, HIPAA, ERISA, and ACA
· Ensure company compliance with employment laws and regulations, and collaborate with the Director of Compliance on initiatives related to workers' compensation and safety
· Assist with retention efforts by conducting stay and exit interviews, handling employee separation notices, and coordinating benefit audits
· Oversee background check and drug screening processes, including vendor management
· Provide training and support to supervisors and managers on employee policies, performance management, and compliance
· Offer recommendations and guidance to managers on employee performance and behavioral matters, including disciplinary actions and terminations
· Address employee and retiree benefit inquiries and assist with the coordination and analysis of annual benefit renewals
· Administer retirement plans, such as the 401k, defined benefit, and ESOP
· Prepare and publish required federal and state disclosures and ERISA documents on the company intranet
· Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
· Thorough understanding of human resource principles and practices
· Familiarity with various HR concepts, practices, and procedures
· Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle complex tasks with experience and judgment
· Proficiency in training, performance management, recruitment, employee relations, and HR information systems
· Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and interpersonal)
· Ability to collaborate effectively with executive leadership to align HR strategies with organizational objectives
· Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite
· Comfortable wearing personal protective equipment as required
· Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
· Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed
· Strong organizational and time management abilities to prioritize tasks and work independently
· Effective team player with excellent interpersonal skills
· Proficient in understanding and applying work-related documents and quality standards
Experience and Education:
· Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field, or equivalent experience
· Minimum of 5-10 years of generalist HR experience with a focus on employee relations
· HRIS experience required
· SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP certification and/or Master's Degree in HR or related field preferred
· Previous human resources management experience in a manufacturing environment is advantageous
