Human Resource Manager

Location: Bryan, TX
This role is responsible for supporting and managing all aspects of Human Resources for a manufacturing facility located in Bryan, TX. The HR Manager will oversee the development and implementation of HR programs, including employee relations, recruitment, training, communication, compensation, and regulatory compliance. While reporting directly to the Regional Director, the HR Manager will also work closely with the Operations Director as their main business partner.
  • Supports plant employee relations by providing guidance to supervisors, monitoring employee separations, addressing workplace issues, establishing plant policies and procedures, interpreting policies for management teams, and ensuring effective employee communication.
  • Performs various administrative duties, including public relations responsibilities, attending staff meetings, managing company sponsorships and donations, administering the company uniform program, and representing the company in unemployment hearings.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local regulations by developing and updating the Affirmative Action Program, attending training seminars, and staying updated on reference materials.
  • Oversees the recruitment process for exempt, non-exempt, and temporary positions, collaborating with recruiters, creating job advertisements, coordinating staffing needs with management, conducting interviews, and assisting with employee orientations.
  • Manages employee recognition programs, organizing company events, and maintaining service awards and gifts.
  • Serves as a resource for employees, ensuring understanding and compliance with HR policies and regulations.
  • Develops and implements HR initiatives aligned with the business to enhance employee and management relations.
  • Advises management on potential problems, providing recommendations and implementing solutions.
  • Proposes innovative approaches, policies, and procedures to drive continuous improvement and acts as a change agent within the plant.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of the plant's goals, objectives, and systems.
  • Monitors key performance indicators related to HR, identifies root causes of workforce issues, and leads improvement initiatives.
  • Maintains and manages department records and reports.
  • Actively participates in company-wide HR projects and meetings.
  • May be responsible for managing vendor relationships.
  • Collaborates with the Compensation and Benefits team to ensure competitive programs are in place for talent attraction and retention.
  • Partners with the Safety department to promote a safe work environment and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations.
  • Performs any other assigned duties.

Minimum Job Requirements:

Education/Certifications and Experience:

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 3 - 5 years of experience working in an HR role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems, specifically experience with Workday.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Bilingual skills (English and Spanish) are preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
  • Ability to lead and work effectively as part of a team.
  • Strong multitasking abilities in a dynamic and ever-changing environment.
  • Excellent analytical, reasoning, and mathematical skills.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present to large audiences.
  • Effective communication with senior management.
  • Strong phone skills and the ability to maintain consistent communication with all parties involved.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Oversee one or more HR Administrators or Generalists.
  • Supervise and monitor work performance through other supervisors or administrators, including making final decisions on hiring and disciplinary actions, evaluating program/work objectives and effectiveness, and adjusting work assignments and staffing as necessary.
