Instrumentation and Electrical Designer (I&E Designer)

We are currently hiring two Senior Designers to join our team in Alpharetta, GA.


  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in designing and laying out electrical distribution and control systems for heavy industrial, oil and gas, refining, pipeline facilities, and chemical plants
  • At least 2 years of experience using AutoCAD for developing or modifying electrical and instrumentation drawings
  • Field experience in the relevant field environment and familiarity with personal safety equipment
  • Experience in troubleshooting and supporting startup activities of electrical control systems
  • Ability to interface with clients, including engineers, shop personnel, inspection staff, and construction contractors
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and customer service skills
  • Strong proficiency with electrical and power systems and equipment, including up to and including 480VAC
  • Detailed understanding of panel and field wiring diagrams and schematics
  • Familiarity with National Electric Code (NFPA 70), NESC, and other electrical standards
  • Experience and familiarity with designing for hazardous classified areas (preferred)


  • Assist in creating E&I design deliverables, such as I/O lists, control panel bills of material, control panel layout and wiring diagrams, and conduit & cable schedules
  • Contribute to the development of electrical power distribution design packages, including site plot plan layouts, single line diagrams, distribution panel layout diagrams, conduit and cable schedules, and miscellaneous electrical details
  • Participate in field verification walk-downs to gather information on existing site systems and perform as-built E&I and power distribution design activities
  • Participate in factory acceptance testing of company designed E&I and power distribution systems (preferred)
  • Support start-up and commissioning activities
  • Keep the Project Manager and Senior Engineering project leadership updated on progress, issues, change order requirements, etc.
  • Travel, averaging 25-50%, including air travel
