Industrial Electrician


We are seeking an Industrial Electrical Technician to safely and efficiently maintain the power plant and all associated equipment in Inyokern, CA. This position requires performing equipment inspection, repair, and system testing/troubleshooting. The role also involves providing technical guidance to various departments and training less experienced personnel in maintenance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties may be assigned as needed)

* Comply with company safety and environmental policies and practices, ensuring compliance from employees, contractors, and visitors.

* Follow proper procedures for controlling and shipping hazardous waste streams.

* Perform corrective, predictive, and preventive maintenance on electrical equipment and systems. Maintain records, reports, and a daily log.

* Diagnose the cause of electrical or electromechanical equipment malfunctions and provide solutions for associated operational equipment failure.

* Plan, direct, and record periodic electrical testing. Recommend or initiate equipment modification or replacement based on acceptable operating standards.

* Develop electrical diagrams, layout drawings, and engineering specifications for system or equipment modification or expansion.

* Coordinate electrical requirements for new construction installations, including specifying new equipment. Oversee electrical installation by third-party contractors.

* Maintain the cleanliness and safety of the plant area, shop equipment, tools, and grounds at all times.

* Respond promptly to emergency situations, taking immediate corrective action to minimize safety hazards and reduce damage or downtime to the plant and equipment.

* Monitor and perform maintenance work as required, including equipment disassembly, repair, assembly, lubrication, oil changes, and malfunction troubleshooting.

* Operate heavy equipment, such as forklifts, cranes, man lifts, machine tools, and electrical test equipment, in performing maintenance tasks.

* Read, interpret, and implement technical information such as drawings, manufacturer's data, and operating and maintenance procedures.

*Document equipment problems, write work orders and repair requests, and issue clearances to ensure safety. Maintain a log of all clearances.

*Train and improve personal skills and the skills of co-workers related to the job and/or required advancement. Provide technical guidance, supervision, and training in electrical systems.

*Provide technical guidance on electrical systems and equipment to the I&E Sr. Maintenance Tech and/or Maintenance Manager.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE - While a high school diploma or GED is preferred, it is not required. Completion of relevant technical or vocational training, including an accredited electrical apprenticeship program, is desired. Additionally, candidates should possess 3-4 years of experience in power plant maintenance. Desired qualifications include:

  • Knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical equipment
  • Familiarity with systems construction, capacities, limitations, and theories of operation
  • Understanding of operating procedures and plant design
  • Knowledge of equipment locations, valve configurations, and normal ranges for production levels
  • Proficiency in complex electrical and automatic control systems
  • Safe use of tools and adherence to plant safety rules
  • Knowledge of probable causes of equipment and systems malfunctions
  • Detailed understanding of electrical test equipment and troubleshooting
  • Basic to intermediate computer skills in word processing, spreadsheet, and database software

Additionally, we are looking for someone with experience as an Industrial Electrician, specifically with high voltage systems (4160v and higher). Troubleshooting experience on Motor Control Centers and the ability to read 1 line electrical diagrams are also desirable.
