Industrial Electrician

JOB OVERVIEW

We are seeking a Maintenance Electrician to ensure the safe and efficient operation of our power plant in Barstow, CA. In this role, you will be responsible for inspecting and repairing electrical equipment, conducting system testing and troubleshooting, and providing technical guidance to other departments. Additionally, you will train and mentor less experienced maintenance personnel.

RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties may be assigned)

Adhere to and ensure compliance with company safety and environmental policies and procedures. Uphold the safety standards for all employees, contractors, and visitors.

Follow proper procedures for handling and shipment of hazardous waste streams.

Perform corrective, predictive, and preventive maintenance on electrical equipment and systems. Maintain records, reports, and a daily log.

Diagnose the cause of electrical or electromechanical equipment malfunctions and provide solutions.

Plan, direct, and record periodic electrical testing, and recommend adjustments or replacements for equipment not meeting operational standards.

Develop electrical diagrams, layout drawings, and engineering specifications for system or equipment modification or expansion.

Coordinate the electrical requirements for new construction installations, including equipment specification. Supervise installation by third-party contractors.

Maintain cleanliness and safety of the plant area, shop equipment, tools, and grounds.

Respond promptly to emergency situations to minimize safety hazards and minimize damage or downtime to the plant and equipment.

Monitor and perform maintenance work as required, including disassembly, repair, and assembly of equipment, lubrication, oil changes, and troubleshooting malfunctions.

Operate heavy equipment such as forklifts, cranes, man lifts, machine tools, and electrical test equipment for maintenance work.

Read, interpret, and implement technical information such as drawings, manufacturer's data, and operating and maintenance procedures.

Document equipment problems, write work orders and repair requests, and issue clearance to ensure safety. Maintain a log of clearances.

Train and mentor co-workers to enhance their skills and knowledge related to the job. Provide technical guidance and supervision in electrical tasks.

Provide technical guidance on electrical systems and equipment to senior maintenance technicians and the maintenance manager.


QUALIFICATIONS To excel in this role, the ideal candidate must have the ability to proficiently execute each essential duty. The qualifications listed below represent the necessary knowledge, skill, and/or ability. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE - While a high school diploma or GED is preferred but not required, completion of relevant technical or vocational training is necessary, including an accredited electrical apprenticeship program. A minimum of 3-4 years of power plant maintenance experience is also required. Desired qualifications include knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical equipment, understanding of system construction and operation, familiarity with complex electrical and automatic control systems, and proficiency in using electrical test equipment and troubleshooting. Basic to intermediate computer skills in word-processing, spreadsheet, and database software are necessary as well.

Looking for experience as an Industrial Electrician with expertise in high voltage systems (4160v and higher). Troubleshooting experience on Motor Control Centers and ability to interpret 1 line electrical diagrams is highly desired.
