Industrial Maintenance Technician-first shift!

A reputable automotive supplier in Saline, Michigan is seeking an experienced maintenance technician.

The main responsibilities of this position include troubleshooting and performing daily equipment maintenance tasks. Additionally, the technician will be responsible for training Maintenance Technicians 1 and 2.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

To excel in this position, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty successfully. The requirements listed below represent the necessary knowledge, skills, and/or abilities.

ü Ensure compliance with safety, health, and environmental procedures, policies, and practices including the use of personal protective equipment.

ü Follow all QMS / EMS / ISO procedures and work instructions relevant to the position.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1. Operate and maintain various machinery equipment, such as lathes, mills, and surface grinders.

2. Prepare material lists for machine repairs and fabrications.

3. Independently perform routine maintenance and operation of machinery equipment, including robotics.

4. Troubleshoot and program Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).

5. Respond independently to service calls, diagnose machine problems, and perform necessary repairs.

6. Perform daily, weekly, and monthly preventive maintenance tasks.

7. Fabricate parts and equipment using mills, drill presses, welding equipment, etc.

8. Perform mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic repairs, as well as problem-solving and retrofits.

9. Manage inventory of common replaceable items and machine-specific parts.

10. Operate forklifts, overhead cranes, and aerial lifts as needed.

11. Maintain accurate records, logbooks, and maintenance request forms using computer software.

12. Participate in the continuous improvement process.

13. Perform any other assigned work to ensure smooth workflow within the company.

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:

§ Promote a team-oriented working environment that encourages individual differences and personal growth.

§ Read and interpret mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic blueprints, safety rules, and operating instructions.

§ Perform basic mathematical functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

§ Possess basic computer skills and familiarity with current technology software.

§ Have advanced understanding of machine and equipment PLCs.

§ Demonstrate effective communication skills.

§ Possess problem-solving capabilities in both numerical and mechanical areas.

§ Demonstrate proficiency in using various types of tools, including voltmeter and manual, electric, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment.

§ Have intermediate knowledge of robotics.

§ Possess mechanical ability and knowledge of maintenance tools and techniques, including Lock Out/Tag Out procedures.

§ Document work performed accurately.

§ Use precision measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers.

PREFERRED EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

Note: A High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is required for all new hires.

§ Possession of a 4-year technical degree, Journey Worker Certification, or at least 9 years of relevant job experience.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

§ Demonstrated proficiency in industrial maintenance for a minimum of 6 years.

§ Ability to stand or walk for extended periods of time.

§ Ability to lift and move up to ten (10) pounds regularly, up to twenty-five (25) pounds frequently, and up to fifty (50) pounds occasionally.

§ Ability to work inside various-sized industrial equipment.

§ Exposure to vibration, repetitive motion, bending, lifting, twisting, crouching, reaching, pushing and/or pulling, as well as high temperatures.

§ Frequent proximity to powered motor vehicles, power tools, and automated assembly fixtures.
