IP PATENT AGENT – EMERGING TECHNOLOGIES & LIFE SCIENCES

Location: Silicon Valley, CA

Our client, a prestigious law firm ranked in the top tier, is searching for a Patent Agent to join their esteemed Patents & Emerging Technologies Group. This practice area is consistently recognized for its specialization in patent prosecution, litigation support, and corporate IP strategy. The position is available in the Silicon Valley office of the firm.

This opportunity is perfect for individuals with a strong technical background who desire to work on inventive patent matters for both startups and leading technology companies.

Candidate Profile:

  • A degree (M.S. or Ph.D. preferred) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, or Physics.
  • 2–10 years of patent prosecution experience, preferably as a primary point of contact for startup clients.
  • USPTO registration required.
  • Profound technical expertise and the ability to closely collaborate with inventors, scientists, and engineers on intricate patent matters.
  • Outstanding writing, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
  • An active member of the patent bar with superb technological background

Key Responsibilities:

  • Draft, submit, and handle patent applications concerning emerging technologies and life sciences innovations.
  • Closely cooperate with startups and well-established technology companies to formulate and carry out IP strategies that align with their business objectives.
  • Provide technical analysis in patent litigation and corporate transactions that require IP due diligence.
  • Collaborate with attorneys, inventors, and in-house counsel to evaluate patentability, freedom-to-operate, and portfolio management strategies.
  • Stay updated on technology trends, patent laws, and industry advancements.
