IT Systems Administrator (Network and Security Administration)

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced IT Systems Administrator with a strong emphasis on networking and security. This role is critical in designing, implementing, and maintaining our network infrastructure to ensure maximum performance, reliability, and security. The ideal candidate will safeguard our systems and data against internal and external threats while also providing essential technical support to our employees.

Key Responsibilities:

Network Administration:

• Design, configure, and maintain LAN, WAN, and WLAN environments.

• Monitor network performance, proactively troubleshoot issues, and ensure optimal uptime.

• Manage network devices such as routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs.

• Implement and maintain network security protocols and industry best practices.

• Plan and execute network upgrades and expansions as needed.

Security Administration:

• Deploy and maintain security tools, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, and antivirus solutions.

• Conduct regular security assessments, vulnerability scans, and audits.

• Develop, implement, and enforce security policies and procedures.

• Respond to security incidents and perform forensic analysis as required.

• Manage user access controls and permissions.

• Stay current on emerging security threats, vulnerabilities, and mitigation strategies.

Systems Administration:

• Install, configure, and maintain Windows and/or Linux servers and infrastructure.

• Manage Active Directory and directory services.

• Execute regular system backups and disaster recovery planning.

• Provide technical support to end users, resolving hardware and software issues.

• Document network and system configurations thoroughly.

Collaboration & Communication:

• Partner closely with IT team members, consultants, and internal departments to ensure smooth IT operations.

• Communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical users.

• Participate in IT initiatives and contribute to the development of overall IT strategies.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).

• Minimum of 5 years' experience in network and security administration.

• Solid understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, etc.).

• Experience with network security tools and technologies (firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs).

• Proficiency in Windows and/or Linux server environments.

• Experience managing Active Directory and related directory services.

• Familiarity with security standards and compliance frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001).

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting abilities.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Relevant certifications (CompTIA Network+, Security+, CCNA, CISSP) are a plus.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).

• Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Java, Python, PowerShell).

• Experience with SIEM (Security Information and Event Management) solutions.

• Familiarity with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V).
