Labor Delivery Nurse Manager

Manager of Nursing - Women's Health Department

Responsibilities:

  • Oversees daily operations of the Women's Health department, ensuring adherence to practice standards, staffing levels, budgeting, and quality improvement. Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and departmental policies.
  • Develops and implements strategies to enhance staff development. Manages a team of 20 - 60+ employees.
  • Assesses and adjusts personnel allocation based on changing patient needs, optimizing patient care while identifying cost-saving opportunities.
  • Supervises daily department operations, including human resources management, safety programs, and risk management.
  • Ensures quality of service and utilization standards are met, coordinating treatment plans and promoting customer-focused care and cost-effective service utilization.
  • Collaborates with healthcare providers across departments to ensure optimal patient care. Stays updated on best practices and implements successful models from other units. Addresses and resolves patient and family concerns.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

Experience

  • Minimum of two (2) years of nursing experience required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of leadership experience as charge nurse, preceptor, or quality improvement champion.

Education

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing school. High school diploma or GED required.

License, Certification, Registration

  • Active Registered Nurse License in California.
  • Basic Life Support certification.

Additional Requirements:

  • Completion of preceptor or charge nurse training.
  • Proficiency in quality improvement, clinical care delivery processes, staffing, and budgeting.
  • Familiarity with Nursing Practice Act, The Joint Commission, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • ACLS, PALS, NRP certification may be required for certain departments.
  • Ability to thrive in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strongly prefer ACLS certification.
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing.

· Experience as a Preceptor, Trainer or Educator helpful

· Experience in a union environment

· Positive communication style, collaborative, empathetic

· Ability to adapt and problem-solve in a fast-paced environment
