Lead Automation Controls Engineer

  • You must have at least six years of experience in custom automation programming and design, as well as HMI and PLC programming and design, to be considered for this role.
  • The salary for this position is up to $120,000.

The company is seeking a Lead Automation Controls Engineer to join their team. As an employee-oriented custom automation machinery engineering and manufacturing company, they pride themselves in pushing the boundaries of custom automation equipment design. In addition to building machines from scratch, they also produce standard products that are sold globally. With a small engineering group of six engineers, every engineer has significant impact on the company. This collaborative environment allows for engineers to tackle challenges in creating custom automation systems while being able to witness their designs come to life on the factory floor, as manufacturing takes place at the same location. The main responsibilities of the Lead Automation Controls Engineer include:
  • Designing custom automation systems
  • Leading and mentoring multiple engineers on projects
  • Ensuring technical performance and profitability
  • Programming and designing custom PLCs
  • Ensuring proper functioning of electric, pneumatic, hydraulic systems, and programming for each assigned project
  • Managing projects from concept to field commissioning
  • Collaborating with PLCs, OITs, robots, servos, vision systems, and other instrumentation and control devices
  • Utilizing AutoCAD software for design purposes
A successful candidate for this role must possess the following qualifications:
  • At least six years of experience in custom automation programming and design
  • At least six years of experience in HMI and PLC programming and design
  • Proficiency in robotics and servos
  • Experience coordinating multiple engineers on projects
  • Strong knowledge of designing, building, implementing, debugging, and troubleshooting factory floor automation systems
  • Proficiency in using AutoCAD for schematic creation and design purposes
  • Strong electrical engineering skills, including component specification, sizing, panel layout, experience with AC/DC drives and networks, among others
  • Possess a solid work history
  • Being a US citizen or green card holder
  • Reside within a 45-minute drive from the workplace
