Legal Assistant

We are currently seeking a Legal Secretary to join a highly esteemed law firm in New Orleans, LA. In this role, you will provide comprehensive support to a group of attorneys, performing various administrative and secretarial tasks.

This is a full-time position that requires you to work on-site. We offer competitive compensation and a generous benefits package.

Responsibilities:

  • Utilize technology resources effectively to ensure efficient operations for the attorneys.
  • Create, format, edit, and transmit various legal documents using office software applications.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of legal processes to accurately prepare client documents and meet filing deadlines.
  • Handle e-filings and state court filings as required. Manage incoming and outgoing mail, faxes, and document scanning.
  • Organize and file documents in the appropriate workspaces/folders both electronically and in paper format.
  • Maintain the daily calendar of each attorney, schedule appointments, meetings, and travel arrangements.
  • Manage Outlook contacts for each attorney as needed.
  • Assist with file opening, closing, and conflicts checks.
  • Support attorneys in timesheet management and billing matters.
  • Process reimbursement requests for attorneys and client costs through appropriate platforms.
  • Maintain professional and confidential relationships with clients.
  • Regular and punctual attendance is essential for this role.

Qualifications:

  • · A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Additional education or relevant experience is desirable.
  • · Preferably, you should have at least 3 years of litigation secretarial experience in a law firm.
  • Proficient in office software applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and PDF.
  • Familiarity with legal practices, terminology, documents, and court procedures.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and work under pressure.
  • Excellent typing, spelling, grammar, proofreading, transcription, and clerical skills.
  • Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail.
  • Proficient with standard office equipment such as computers, printers, copiers, and telephone systems.
