Level 2 Automation/Controls Engineer
Location: Alliance, OH
Solutions Engineer - Automation and Controls (Level 2)
Utilize innovative tools and computer-based systems to identify and resolve challenges, contributing to the continuous improvement process and enhancing reliability by reducing variation
Role and Responsibilities:
Create, implement, and evaluate modifications to enhance performance of software, databases, servers, and HMI systems in the Steel Mill Process
Optimize availability, efficiency, and quality of Steel Mill Process Line Level 2 systems
Establish automated backup strategies for Level 2 application servers and data servers
Sustain and improve web page and database table development
Upgrade server hardware to enhance performance
Maintain comprehensive catalog and organization of server software and licenses
Provide support for HMI changes when necessary
Resolve network connectivity issues
Manage Level I & II user accounts
Collaborate with production and electrical departments
Resolve hardware and software problems
Qualifications:
Minimum qualification of a Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or EE (or combination of post-secondary education and relevant experience)
Proficiency in C++ or .NET Framework, MS SQL Server or Oracle DB, Visual Studio, and Windows Server is required
Thorough understanding of process automation in a manufacturing environment
Prior experience in the steel industry, especially in Hot/Cold-Rolling, is advantageous
