Litigation Legal Assistant/Paralegal

Note: This role requires employees to work on-site at the Oakland office for 3 days a week.

Job Description

  • Deliver administrative support to the Litigation Group of the firm
  • Aid in the creation, review, and revision of legal documents, including pleadings and correspondence
  • Prepare and format documents for court filings, both at the federal and state level
  • Organize and manage case files and legal documents for easy accessibility
  • Keep track of attorneys' schedules and ensure timely compliance with deadlines, including court dates and filings
  • Maintain professional communication with clients, attorneys, and other staff members
  • Utilize software tools such as Microsoft Office, Adobe, and document management systems to perform daily tasks efficiently
  • Support attorneys with trial preparation and provide assistance throughout all stages of litigation

Qualifications

  • Completion of high school is required; a bachelor's degree is preferred
  • Must have a background in eminent domain or, at the very least, experience in construction defect
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience as a legal assistant, with a focus on litigation
  • Possession of a paralegal certificate or equivalent qualification
  • Familiarity with California state and federal court procedures
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency with legal software and calendaring tools
