Labor and Employment Litigation Specialist - San Diego, CA

An esteemed law firm located in the heart of San Diego seeks a dedicated and detail-oriented Labor and Employment Litigation Specialist to join its thriving team specializing in labor and employment law. About the Role

As a Labor and Employment Litigation Specialist, you will be an integral part of a team that offers guidance and defense to employers in complex legal matters, including:

• Handling class actions and PAGA claims
• Addressing employee classification and workplace discipline issues
• Managing leaves of absence and disability matters
• Advising on whistleblower laws and workplace privacy rights

Our team caters to a diverse range of clients, ranging from public entities and corporations to non-profit organizations and public-private partnerships. You will be involved in every stage of labor and employment cases, from drafting legal documents and overseeing discovery to preparing for trials and handling appeals in both federal and state courts.

Key Responsibilities

• Take ownership of case management from initiation to conclusion, including drafting, reviewing, and revising legal documents
• Maintain well-organized case files and regularly update discovery logs and indices
• Assist in deposition and hearing preparations by identifying and gathering exhibits and creating witness outlines
• Manage document production, assist with eDiscovery, and effectively coordinate with litigation support teams for database management
• Conduct thorough legal research, verify citations in briefs, and ensure the accuracy of both legal and factual references
• Collaborate closely with attorneys to develop comprehensive case strategies and provide proactive support throughout trial proceedings

This position also requires meeting a 1575 billable hour annual target, occasional travel for case support, and a consistent on-site presence with excellent attendance.

Requirements

• Hold a valid Paralegal certification as defined by California Business & Professions Code §6450
• Possess a Paralegal Certificate from an ABA-approved institution and demonstrate a minimum of five years' experience in California labor and employment law (bachelor’s degree preferred)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite/365, including advanced Excel functions (e.g., PivotTables, VLOOKUP, and INDEX/MATCH)
• Familiarity with eDiscovery platforms such as iPro and Adobe Acrobat Pro XI
• Strong research skills with prior experience using Westlaw or Lexis
• Thorough knowledge of California legal procedures, court rules, and local regulations
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication abilities
• Demonstrate a high degree of independence, professionalism, and discretion

Compensation

The hourly pay range for this position is $45.67–$54.32, which reflects our firm's commitment to recognizing talent and experience. Actual compensation will be based on qualifications, skills, and years of experience.
