Machine Repair Technician (3rd Shift)

Machine Repair Technician (Plastics Product Manufacturing)

What You’ll Do:
As a Machine Repair Technician, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficiency, reliability, and safety of all manufacturing production and non-production equipment. You will play a key role in maintaining optimal operations and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform all machine electrical installations.

  • Conduct preventive maintenance to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.

  • Identify and address root causes of machine failures.

  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment by proactively identifying and resolving safety and housekeeping issues.

  • Recommend and implement corrective actions to prevent recurring equipment issues.

  • Verify the effectiveness of repairs to ensure permanent resolution.

  • Accurately complete all documentation related to work orders and business management systems.

  • Support the plant’s continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Ensure all equipment is in safe operating condition to protect personnel and prevent damage.

  • Calibrate in-house control devices as needed.

  • Request and utilize necessary tools and equipment to complete machine wiring and repairs.

  • Employ predictive maintenance tools and techniques to prevent equipment failures.

  • Collaborate with tooling, engineering, and other relevant personnel to resolve complex issues.

  • Shut down and lock out equipment deemed unsafe until proper repairs are made.

  • Follow proper procedures for handling and disposing of maintenance-related wastes.


Environmental Responsibilities:

  • Repair process and pollution control equipment in compliance with regulations.

  • Handle all maintenance-related waste materials properly and safely.


Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • Journeyman status and/or 7–10 years of machine repair experience in a manufacturing setting.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Strong background in:

    • PLCs, HMI systems, process controls

    • Camera inspection systems, robotic controls

    • Electrical and automation systems

    • Mechanical, hydraulic (including servo), and pneumatic systems

    • Fabrication and welding

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.

  • Proficient with CMMS and other computer-based maintenance systems.

  • Effective communication and decision-making skills.

  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
