Machine Repair Technician
What you’ll be doing: As a Machine Maintenance Specialist, your role will involve ensuring the effective and efficient repair of all manufacturing production and nonproduction equipment.
Main responsibilities of this position:
- Performing electrical installations on machines.
- Carrying out preventive maintenance tasks.
- Identifying the underlying cause of machine malfunctions.
- Working in a safe and efficient manner by closely monitoring the work area for safety hazards and cleanliness issues, and promptly resolving them with the appropriate personnel.
- Suggesting and implementing necessary corrections or improvements to prevent the recurrence of root causes.
- Implementing approved corrections and improvements on machines.
- Ensuring permanent corrective action by following up on root cause corrections.
- Completing all required documentation, including work order systems and business management systems.
- Contributing to continuous improvement efforts within the plant.
- Maintaining a safe and nonhazardous working order for production and related equipment to prevent injuries and equipment damage.
- Utilizing electronic calibration skills to calibrate in-house control devices.
- Requesting equipment for wiring machines and utilizing any qualified equipment for the job.
- Using predictive tools and techniques to prevent machine failures, and requesting any necessary tools and resources not available.
- Utilizing problem identification tools and techniques to find the root cause of issues, and requesting any required tools and resources.
- Collaborating with the tooling leader, engineering personnel, and other relevant individuals to discuss identified root causes and find solutions for machine corrections and improvements.
- Repairing or enhancing production machinery using available tools and techniques, and requesting additional resources if needed.
- Verifying permanent corrective action by using problem identification tools and techniques, and requesting any necessary resources.
- Ensuring the shutdown and lock-out of any unsafe equipment until the proper corrective actions have been taken.
- Performing and completing calibration procedures as necessary.
- Requesting tools and supplies for equipment repair, and handling maintenance wastes properly.
Responsibilities related to the environment:
- Ensuring proper repair of process and pollution control equipment.
- Properly handling any generated wastes from repair and maintenance activities.
Job Requirements:
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Completion of high school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Journeyman status and/or 7-10 years of experience in machine repair within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with the following:
- Programming Logic Controllers (PLC's), Human-Machine Interface (HMI) systems, process controls, camera inspection systems, and robotic controls.
- Machine electrical systems and automation.
- Mechanical systems.
- Hydraulics and Servo Hydraulics.
- Pneumatics.
- Fabrication and welding.
- Reading blueprints.
- Proficiency in working with computer systems, including CMMS systems.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to make timely and difficult decisions.
- Demonstrates problem-solving skills and the ability to make calculated decisions.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office applications.
- Shows attention to detail and accuracy when completing tasks and considers all relevant areas.
