Maintenance Technician (second shift)

Our client is a reputable steel processing company located in Louisville, KY. They currently have an open position for a second shift maintenance technician.


This role involves the installation, maintenance, and repair of machinery, equipment, physical structures, and pipe and electrical systems.

Primary Responsibilities Other duties may be assigned.

· Perform maintenance service and repairs in the areas of plumbing, carpentry, painting, plastering, machine servicing, electrical and vehicle servicing.

· Follow instructions and guidelines to complete assigned tasks.

· Work under close supervision to ensure job completion.

· Provide support for all plant machines and tooling, including troubleshooting, repairing damages, and addressing breakdowns.

· Ensure strict adherence to safety procedures during maintenance activities.

· Maintain organization in the maintenance area by implementing the 5S methodology for parts, including spare parts.

· Ensure cleanliness of the work area to uphold plant safety standards and maintain a pleasing appearance.

· Report any equipment abuse to the Assistant Production Manager.

· Send daily maintenance report via email to the Assistant Production Manager to address any maintenance issues.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position does not involve supervisory responsibilities.

Education and/or Experience

The ideal candidate should possess a high school diploma or equivalent and have at least 3 years of experience in maintenance work.

Computer Skills

Proficiency in company software is required to perform this role effectively.

Additional Skills

  • Successful completion of the maintenance test is mandatory.
  • Completion of an apprenticeship or formal training program is beneficial.
  • Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Ability to interpret mechanical prints and symbols.
  • Ability to interpret electrical prints and symbols.
  • Proficiency in repairing mechanical devices.
  • Proficiency in repairing electrical devices.
  • Ability to diagnose electronic problems and isolate them from other system components.
  • Ability to fabricate items based on loose specifications.
  • Ability to design and engineer items according to strict specifications.
