  • Create detailed manufacturing instructions and programming data for the production of machined parts and sub-assemblies based on engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Determine manufacturing procedures, operation sequencing, and tooling, gauging, and machine requirements for fabricating parts and sub-assemblies across various products.
  • Generate detailed operation sheets and N/C programs, estimate setup and run hours, and provide design and build hour estimates for tooling.
  • Assist in preparing cost estimates for new proposals under the guidance of the Group Leader.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to Associate Manufacturing Engineers, with a strong understanding of external and internal grinding.

Responsibilities:

  • Solve problems and improve processes associated with the parts assigned by spending time in the production shops.

  • Support the timely and efficient processing of assigned parts by generating operation sheets and manufacturing procedures.

  • Ensure the compatibility of engineering drawings and specifications with manufacturing capabilities by reviewing drawings and suggesting changes for enhanced producibility.

  • Create accurate and usable N/C programming tapes by converting N/C program outlines into specific machine instructions, and assist machine operators in program prove-out.

  • Coordinate with various departments and team members to optimize the design and use of manufacturing facilities and processes.

  • Establish standard times for setup and run of each operation on assigned parts.

  • Identify opportunities for more efficient manufacturing of parts and make recommendations for changes in equipment, processes, methods, materials, and designs.

  • Follow up on jobs during the initial stage of manufacturing to ensure proper processing and make necessary revisions to tooling and processing.

  • Consult with the Manufacturing Engineering Group Leader to resolve processing details on more complex parts.

  • Prepare rework operation sheets for salvaging discrepant parts and implement corrective actions to reduce the occurrence of such issues.

  • Establish tooling, gaging, and fixture concepts, review and approve design drawings, and estimate hours required for design and fabrication.

  • Coordinate with vendors for operation sheets involving outside and inside operations.

  • Able to assist in producing N/C programs.

  • Assist the Group Leader in cost estimating for new proposals.

  • Provide guidance and training to Associate Manufacturing Engineers as needed.

  • Ensure adherence to fundamental safety principles by employees and management.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree

    • Or an Associate’s degree and a minimum of 6 years of relevant professional experience

    • Or a High School diploma and a minimum of 8 years of relevant professional experience

  • At least 3 years of experience in grinding ID/OD

  • Experience working with close tolerances of .0005” or less

  • Hands-on experience in machine setup and operation

  • Excellent communication and documentation skills for effective collaboration with various teams
