Manufacturing Engineer – Pharma

We are currently seeking a talented and motivated individual for the position of Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Engineer in Lancaster, SC. As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will play a crucial role in identifying, developing, and executing projects that aim to improve our manufacturing processes and achieve our company goals. This includes improving plant productivity, reducing costs, ensuring safety compliance, and delivering high-quality results on time. In this dynamic role, you will be responsible for identifying manufacturing needs, defining project scope, and monitoring progress. We are looking for a proactive leader who thrives in a fast-paced FDA regulated manufacturing environment.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of our products, systems, and manufacturing operations across all facilities
  • Innovate and implement new solutions to address existing manufacturing challenges
  • Conduct research, design, and development of manufacturing processes, including production flow, assembly methods, and equipment usage
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on enhancing safety, quality, productivity, cost reduction, and employee engagement
  • Create processes and procedures to support budgetary goals and performance objectives
  • Serve as a liaison between project personnel and the engineering department
  • Develop standards for each work center, utilizing time studies to measure utilization and efficiency
  • Present rationale and supporting data to justify equipment purchases and capital investments to management
  • Apply Lean principles and tools such as waste elimination, daily management, problem solving, 5S, visual management, standard work, and value stream mapping
  • Collaborate with various departments including Marketing, Packaging Engineers, Manufacturing, Maintenance, Supply Chain, and Product Development to launch new products
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to meet company objectives
  • Communicate effectively with other departments and work well within a team environment
  • Manage, lead, and execute Lean initiatives, continuous improvement efforts, and equipment designs that optimize floor space
  • Lead cross-functional teams to successfully drive projects from conception to completion
  • Consult, coach, develop, and train team members on continuous improvement tools and techniques
  • Identify and prepare business cases for capital investments
  • Prepare key performance indicators (KPIs) and develop continuous improvement projects
  • Coordinate improvement activities and foster process ownership across all departments and employees

Education and Experience:

  • Hold a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably in Industrial, Manufacturing, or Mechanical Engineering
  • Have at least five years of experience in a cGMP facility, with a strong background in Continuous Improvement and Project Management
  • Hold certification in Lean manufacturing
  • Obtain Six Sigma certification (green/black belt)
  • Be an expert in CAD, SPC, and Gantt Charts
  • ERP experience is a plus, particularly in design, testing, and implementation related to manufacturing processes
  • Be a self-motivated worker with the ability to prioritize tasks and work independently
