Manufacturing Site Director – Dairy/Cheese

Our client, a Fortune 200 company, is in search of a highly skilled Manufacturing Site Director to lead their dairy facility located in Sheboygan, WI. The Manufacturing Site Director will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the plant, including safety, quality, sanitation, cost, customer service, cheesemaking, milk receiving, and people development. With a focus on achieving business targets and supporting the growth of the Dairy Foods division, the candidate will be expected to drive improvements and deliver sustainable results in these areas. This facility operates 24/7/365 and produces both cheese and sweet whey powder.

Required Experience and Education:

  • A minimum of 10 years of progressive manufacturing experience, with a proven track record of leadership and delivering sustainable results

  • Bachelor's degree in Science/Food Science, Agriculture, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field

  • Demonstrated success in Continuous Improvement principles such as LEAN, Six Sigma, or TPM

  • Experience in union environments, contract negotiations, and employee/labor relations

  • Prior dairy experience in milk receiving and cheese making, with a preference for aged cheddar experience

  • Ability to develop and foster teamwork and collaboration within the facility to improve plant culture and drive business results

  • Proven ability to lead and develop a team of technical engineers, department managers, and supervisors

  • Strong strategic planning skills and the ability to implement actions to achieve site goals

  • Track record of successful manufacturing transformation and change management, resulting in cost savings and improved plant culture

  • Experience working closely with sales to ensure effective customer relationships

Required Competencies and Skills:

  • Effective leadership skills to guide managers, supervisors, engineers, cheesemakers, and union hourly team members in achieving plant goals

  • Strong ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams including EHS, Quality, R&D, SO, Finance, and sales to meet plant and business objectives

  • Technical expertise to solve problems and lead engineers, cheesemakers, and supervisors in producing high-quality, ageable cheddar cheese

  • Ability to motivate and engage team members at all levels in accordance with LOL Leadership Competencies

  • Passionate about diversity and inclusion, with a proven track record of leading diversity initiatives and achieving results

  • Skilled in driving innovation and implementing cost-saving initiatives for improved cost performance

  • Solid financial background and understanding of the impacts and drivers of material yield, off-grades, reliability, OEE, and labor productivity

  • Experience in developing and executing financial and capital budgets

  • Create and maintain a positive work environment to support continuous improvement

  • Strong leadership and communication skills within the community and with members

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Experience and Education:

  • Progressive manufacturing experience in cheddar cheesemaking, dairy, or a related food segment

  • Lean/Continuous Improvement certifications
