Manufacturing Site Director – Dairy/Cheese

Location: Sheboygan, WI

Our client, a Fortune 200 company, is in need of a Manufacturing Site Director for their dairy facility located in Eastern Wisconsin. The Manufacturing Site Director will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the plant's operations, including safety, quality, sanitation, cost, customer service, cheesemaking, milk receiving, and people development. The main objective is to drive performance improvement in these areas to meet business targets and support the growth of the Dairy Foods division. This facility operates 24/7/365 and produces both cheese and sweet whey powder.

Experience-Education (Required):

  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive manufacturing experience with a proven track record of leadership and delivering sustainable results

  • Bachelor's degree in Science/Food Science, Agriculture, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field

  • Demonstrated success in Continuous Improvement principles such as LEAN/Six Sigma/TPM

  • Experience working in union environments, including contract negotiations and employee/labor relations

  • Prior experience in dairy operations, specifically in milk receiving and cheese making, with preference for aged cheddar experience

  • Ability to develop and foster teamwork and collaboration to improve plant culture and drive business results

  • Proven ability to lead and develop a team of technical engineers, department managers, and supervisors

  • Strong strategic planning and implementation skills

  • Track record of successfully leading manufacturing transformation and change management initiatives to drive cost savings and improve plant culture

  • Effective collaboration with sales team to maintain strong customer relationships

  • Ability to lead and motivate a diverse plant staff, including managers, supervisors, engineers, and cheesemakers, to achieve plant goals

  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively interact with cross-functional teams, including EHS, Quality, R&D, SO, Finance, and sales, to meet plant and business objectives

  • Technical expertise to solve problems and lead engineers, cheesemakers, and supervisors in producing high-quality, ageable cheddar cheese

  • Capability to utilize LOL Leadership Competencies to develop and engage team members at all levels in the plant

  • Demonstrated dedication to diversity and inclusion, with a proven track record of leading diversity initiatives

  • Ability to drive innovation and cost-saving initiatives for improved cost per pound performance

  • Solid financial background and understanding of manufacturing to analyze material yield, off grades, reliability, OEE, and labor productivity

  • Experience in budget development and execution

  • Create a positive work environment that fosters continuous improvement throughout the site

  • Lead employee relations activities to promote development, accountability, engagement, and retention within the team

  • Effective leadership and communication within the community and with member relations

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Experience-Education (Preferred):

  • Progressive manufacturing experience in cheddar cheesemaking, dairy, or the food-related segment

  • Lean/Continuous Improvement certifications
