Master Scheduler
The Master Scheduler position in Kansas City, MO is responsible for efficiently scheduling the production of finished goods in order to facilitate timely raw material ordering. The selected candidate will be responsible for closely monitoring inventory levels of finished goods. Additionally, this role will involve evaluating and approving proposed material or process changes, resolving customer issues, and managing Bill of Materials for both current and upcoming product launches in a just-in-time (JIT) manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities of a Master Scheduler:
- Ensuring accurate maintenance of parameters and data within the ERP system.
- Participating in the creation and management of Bill of Materials for product launches and ongoing operations.
- Monitoring the flow of goods and adjusting manufacturing plans accordingly. Any changes made to the plan will be communicated to the manufacturing team.
- Developing master schedules based on historical data and sales forecasts.
- Maintaining schedule agreements with customers.
- Conducting capacity planning to forecast material, equipment, and labor needs for new business opportunities.
- Managing the inventory of finished goods.
- Implementing measures to continually improve plant performance and utilization.
- Planning and coordinating the introduction of new parts while phasing out old ones.
- Investigating and resolving discrepancies between shipments and customer orders, while maintaining constant communication with customers.
- Ensuring accurate cycle counting of finished goods to maintain inventory accuracy.
- Investigating causes of significant discrepancies in finished goods inventory to prevent reoccurrence.
- Identifying slow-moving finished goods inventory and recommending appropriate actions for review and disposal.
- Maintaining optimal inventories to support operations while minimizing inventory investments.
- Adjusting order fulfillment based on customer needs.
- Conducting perpetual inventory checks against physical stock counts, making appropriate adjustments, and investigating variances.
- Ensuring compliance with safety regulations and enforcing company safety rules.
Education / Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree (BS or BA) is a requirement.
- Recent experience in an automotive manufacturing plant is essential.
- 3-5 years of experience as a Master Scheduler, Materials Planner, or in a related field.
- Strong knowledge and proficiency in ERP/MRP systems.
- The ability to make quick decisions in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
