Job Title: CAD Technician / Drafter

BASIC POSITION

As a CAD Technician, you will utilize computer-aided design (CAD) systems to create technical project data and designs for mechanical systems. You will develop design concepts, calculate specifications, and establish construction requirements based on data and sketches. This position requires creativity, attention to detail, and the ability to complete multiple tasks. Your expertise and judgment will be essential in achieving goals.

NATURE & SCOPE:

We are looking for an innovative and experienced CAD Technician to join our Engineering team in Commerce City, CO. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical design and CAD drafting, with a focus on 3D modeling using SolidWorks. Your knowledge of inspection tooling and ability to use calipers and micrometers will be valuable for measuring parts. As a CAD Technician, you will contribute to modeling current casting, patterns, and updating old drawings to meet current standards. This role requires technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.

In this position, you will be responsible for the following tasks related to the organization's strategic mission:

• Create detailed 2D drawings and 3D models of mechanical components and assemblies using SolidWorks and other CAD software, following project specifications and industry standards.
• Collaborate with engineers and team members to understand project requirements and develop design solutions.
• Apply appropriate geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) features to define drawing tolerances.

• Review and modify designs to ensure accuracy and quality, resolving any potential design issues.
• Participate in design reviews, providing valuable feedback and suggestions for improvement.
• Stay updated on the latest CAD technologies and industry trends, continuously improving technical skills and knowledge.
• Follow established processes and ensure alignment with workflows.
• Provide support on various projects as needed.
• Adapt to changing priorities by maintaining flexibility.
• Adhere to all safety regulations and participate in safety training.

PERFORMANCE MEASURES:

1. Generate design drawings using CAD system accurately and promptly.
2. Maintain conformance to established policies, practices, and standards.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1. Ensure accuracy and availability of design drawings and customer documentation.
2. Implement process improvement initiatives effectively and promptly.
3. Stay updated on the latest CAD technologies and industry trends, continuously enhancing technical skills and knowledge.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:

• Associate's degree in a related field.
• 2+ years of design/drafting experience, preferably with rotating equipment.
• Knowledge of mechanical design/analysis, drafting technology, manufacturing technology, field service, mathematics (algebra, trigonometry, geometry), GD&T, and quality programs.
• Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and CAD tools.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently in a professional capacity.
• Knowledge of 3D scanners and software is a plus.
