Mechanical Engineer

Qualified candidates must possess a four-year degree from an accredited institution, along with a BSME certification. Additionally, experience in designing high-speed automation machinery with a focus on mechanical and pneumatic elements is required.

We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to develop and design the mechanics of automated packaging equipment with a specific emphasis on high speed. This position will be responsible for optimizing performance while minimizing costs, whether through existing designs or the accumulation of new ones. Your tasks will include ensuring projects are completed according to specifications and within designated timeframes, as well as producing working drawings and bills of materials for standard manufacturing processes.


  • Create designs for components and subassemblies used in high speed, automated packaging machinery.

  • Generate mechanical layouts, source components, and create bills of materials.

  • Coordinate with project managers, manufacturing teams, supply chain personnel, and electrical engineers to ensure all projects meet specifications.

  • Develop relationships with customer-facing organizations, vendors, and suppliers.

  • Create budgets, schedules, and plans for education and training.

  • Perform root cause analysis, diagnostics, and troubleshooting of equipment.

  • Promote a safe and positive work environment.

  • Lead cross-functional teams to drive development projects.

  • Manage subcontractors to meet design requirements and project timelines.

Machine Production and Installation Support:

    • Assist Technical Sales managers with production projects related to specific platforms.
    • Respond to inquiries, troubleshoot problems, conduct studies, and provide cost estimates.
    • Offer cost-effective solutions while maintaining design integrity.
    • Maintain relationships with customers, supplier representatives, and vendors.

Background Requirements:

  • Required: Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering (BSME) from an ABET accredited program

  • Required: Minimum 3 years of experience in mechanical and pneumatic design of high-speed, automated machinery

  • Experience with linear actuators, servo motors, and gearboxes

  • Familiarity with ASME Y14.5 and GD&T

  • Experience in a low-volume, high-mix manufacturing environment

  • Preferred: Experience with packaging machinery equipment

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills

  • Practical experience with CAD software, PLM systems, and engineering change management. Preferred software includes PTC Pro E, Creo, Windchill, and AutoCAD.

  • Working knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills

  • Excellent motivation and multitasking ability

  • Up to 10% travel required, including international travel to our sister plant in France

  • Reports to: Mechanical Engineering Manager
  • Directs: Draftsman or Clerk
  • Indirect: Mechanics and Assemblers
