Mechanical Engineer

Location: Pittsburgh, PA

A growing manufacturing company located near Pittsburgh (just a 30-minute drive north of downtown), PA is seeking a Mechanical Engineer.

This role requires travel to company locations across the United States, with an estimated 30% to 50% of time spent on overnight stays.

Occasional international travel may be necessary.

  • A bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferred (Civil, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering will also be considered depending on relevant experience).
  • Candidates must have at least 2 years of experience in relevant industrial design.
  • Experience in project management on complex projects is required.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, as well as excellent interpersonal skills, are essential for this role.
  • Candidates should have the ability to work independently or as part of cross-functional teams, and preferably have experience in leading such teams.
  • Strong analytical skills are necessary to assess situations and drive decision-making.
  • Solid knowledge of manufacturing processes and a general understanding of business principles is required.
  • Familiarity with project management principles and proficiency in tools and software such as MS Project or other similar systems is preferred.
  • Experience working in a global cross-functional project environment is a plus.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with vendors to define project scope, resolve technical issues, and assist with the preparation of procurement documents.
  • Prepare engineering project proposals.
  • Review vendor drawings to ensure design accuracy and compliance with specifications.
  • Develop, evaluate, implement, and monitor processes and operating systems for the manufacturing of wood products.
  • Assess the availability of materials and their safety and environmental impact on facilities.
  • Take responsibility for new product concepts, product development, pilot plant tests on new products, cost reduction formulation, and reverse engineering.
  • Support the conversion of small-scale processes into commercially viable large-scale operations.
